Czech plates made up

Featured Replies

Has anyone got some made up? The idea popped into my head when I saw a local guy with a very nice Mk3 Golf with German style plates (UK reg, just done with German style letters and the 'D' and EU symbol at the side.

Now I know these might not be fully legal and DVLA compliant, but I'd still like to know if it's possible to get hold of them :)

Any ideas, short of visting the Czech Republic??

Steve

I wanted a Czech plate for the front of mine, but my Austrian plate (souveneer from Worthersee) is just fine :)

Let me know if you find anywhere that can do them... I think it'll probably be quite difficult outside of the Czech Republic... It's not like the Skoda scene is as big as the VW cult, you can get German plates all over the place nowadays.

Yep, do like your Austrian plate Josh. Ever had any trouble with it fitted?

I'll make some enquiries then, if no other info turns up. I'm sure we can find a place in CZ who'll send us over plates made up, in this internet-age and all :)

Steve

Never had any problems with the Austrian plate, but then again, I never drive on a public highway with it fitted ;) obviously!

Are there no Friendly Czech's on here????

EDIT:

He is on this site http://www.briskoda.net/forums/member.php?userid=5923 but seems to have been inactive for the last 5 months or so>

you could always try www.fancyplates.com or www.gtgrafix.com (may be .co.uk)

They will make up pretty much whatever plate you like!!

I knew exactly what I wanted for my FRP 'show' plates... so I drew it up as a jpeg, sent them a copy of the font and images I'd used, emailed it through and they made up the plates exactly as I'd asked... this was GT Grafix.

Can you not just buy them from an online company, and ask for them as show plates?

Cheers guys - I had a look on Fancyplates but TBH I don't think that sort of place would be able to get them right. I'd want the usual European style of having the letters pressed into the metal, unlike our strange UK plate manufacture!

That's a good point about Mark (CheekyCzech) - I've had stuff from him before, but not seen him on here for ages. So I'll try and get hold of him via eBay.

Are standard UK metal reflective plates still available/road legal? I had a set years ago. They didn't crack when hit by a stone!

Yes, there is one! And I can be very friendly too (for the right price)!

Presently a student at birmingham uni, but should be going home for a bit in october, so if you're willing to wait a few weeks could try get hold of some plates for you then....

Think they would be fully legal for a classic car, possibly in conjunction with the road tax exemption (30yrs+)

Not sure where you'd stand on a modern car. Again, Fancyplates offer 'old syle' plates but not sure if they're done on metal. I'll ask them I think

LOL - handy eh? ;)

Steve

these plates look same as the german plates, ie. metal. Dubmesiter sell german plates, I think the german bit is a sticker so u could get the CZ sticker made up!

  • Author

Yeah, they look of similar construction to German ones. Seems it's just the UK that has plates like ours

Any ideas on getting the stickers made up? :)

Albeit with some crude Photoshopping, I'm trying to envisage how they'd look in real life :D
