seat belt warning tone (how to disable)

Featured Replies

I'm a taxi driver in a octavia 3 and passengers insist on not wearing there belt on a Friday and Saturday night the only problem is I don't want to listen to the sound the whole journey plus I'm sick to death of telling them to put it on . iv looked on line and there doesn't seem to be a way of doing it throu the ignition so I'm now debating just snipping the cable under the seat the only problem is I don't want to bugger it up.

has anyone got any suggestions

I will also add I looked into just carrying extra seat buckles from the scrap yard and spoke to a bobby I know and he said I could be done for man slaughter if a major accident happened and they had a spare (loose) buckle plugged in ahhhhhh it's driving me crazy.

please help Chris

It can be recoded using VCDS cable. Look in the diagnostic section of the forum for owners map.

Instructions are here:

Alternatively it may be possible to unplug under seat rather than snip! Not sure if was mentioned on here or a Seat forum. Will have a quick look.

wow the Vcds section just went strait over my head I am a dummy lol not sure what to do who to do it or what to try.

if there is a way of disconnecting it under the seat would the passenger air bag still work ?.

I'd be very cautious about fiddling with the wiring, it would make sense if the same sensor was used to enable the passenger airbag - but I'm just guessing.

Numerous sensors used for passenger airbags (in both dash and the seat) plus seatbelt restrainit system. I do not have a wiring diagram here to check which circuit is connected to what, hence suggestion via VCDS which does not disconnect or snip wiring.

It's just that I recall someone mentioning on here disconnecting a plug under the seat - if this affected airbag circuits then it would produce an airbag warning fault light on dash.

Just find their profile on here and private message them, the marker gives you a link to the profile, the one near you (the only one in Grimsby) is a Freedom member and is online right now so should be a good bet! If they are on the map they will have suggested they are willing to help other members at some point so they should be receptive!

Does this have implications under the tougher MOT rules if the warning is disabled?

There is no requirement for a warning tone, and if the fix is coded (so no physical way to see if the tone should be present or not), then there is no way an MOT tester can fail you on it.

No, its not a testable item. My current Audi is devoid of such a warning as it was specified as a factory option to have it disabled.

thanks Guys I'll let you know what happens :)

There is a coding option as well for the seat belt warning on the Instruments I think

Get down the breakers and just get the clip from an old seat belt. Job jobbed
