Dan's 20v 1.8T Fabia Estate

Well my fueling issue isn't the regulator. Found out what bits I need to log with VCDS and did some logging last night, fitted new regulator today and did some more logging, and its still running lean. It is pretty quick with the N75 plugged in, scared myself last night, between the poor headlights, wildlife and bumpy road... probably not the best place to do 3rd gear runs :)

Fuel pump looks like the next candidate... care to share some more information regarding the Walbro Ben (where, how :P)?

  • Managed to get to a track, drive around without breaking anything, and drive back!   Car performed faultlessly and it was a real hoot. Track was wet so was sliding around everywhere but it was fun.

  • ^^^^ you've installed it wrong :P

  • Ibiza 1.8T internals into the Fabia??

Www.glencoeltd.co.uk the basic pump is slightly smaller than the original item, fits in the original sender unit or I have one from mine which is for sale if you want it as won't deliver enough fuel for what I want anymore

Actually just been on there website and it will flow what I need so keeping it :P still its relatively easy to fit one in the standard sender unit and will solve your problems

New fuel pump installed last night. Opted for a new VDO unit from GSF in the end instead of faffing with a Walbro. Ok the Walbro would have been better and could have used it on something else later but, faff :P £13 more for the whole unit, drop in, done.

Has it helped? Ummm yes! Managed to get one WOT run in and its providing the fuel asked for. I'll miss the noisey pump saying hello when I open the door :P This one is much quieter.

My brakes are here finally, so hopefully will get them installed this weekend :)

Good news mate I thought it'd be the pump, your be able to run it at stage 2 230-50 no probs

The brakes fit the wheels I want to use. Happy days :)

Weighed one of the calipers & mounting bracket, 1.7KG. Sadly I don't have anything that goes past 2KG to weigh the standard calipers or the 312s when they come off, but I think they will be quite a bit heavier.

Found a better weighing thing which I didn't know we had!

New Calipers + Bracket + Pads: 1600g

Stock calipers + Carrier + Pads: 4600g

Bloody good that mate 3kg a side, presumably your lose abit with smaller wheels too

More than that over 312s. Discs will be a tad lighter too.

Should do. Will try to get the wheels weighed when having tyres fitted (t'internet recons my wheels are 6.9KG). They have the wrong size on at the moment. Its cost me enough already, didn't want to spend more getting new tyres with the risk they wouldn't fit :p

15 inches! Not running them until I've got new tyres. The current ones have 0 miles on them and I'd rather they stay that way for when I sell them :)

Wilwood 4pot Dyanlite with Wilwood Fast Road pads and Brembo HC discs. May upgrade to DS2500s at some point, they are £60 a set for these :)

Did have a little drama as the supplier tapped them to M10x1 but as I'd already been through a drama with HEL I knew my banjo bolts were 1.25... managed to find the packet with the M10x1 banjos that HEL sent me the first time round but only one in there with the 4 copper washers. Thankfully after upending my tubs of random bolts over the garage floor I found the other bolt :)

What size discs you running Dan?

Awesome mate are they 15x7 wheels I had these on my old fabia, had an inkling when you said 6.9kg each :)

Hoping my 312's and brembos fit under my 16's. Time will tell might have to run spacers to get over my steels and speedlines

One thing I hadn't thought of was whether these would be ok with my 16" steels. They are... but its close :) The TDs are 35mm offset which helps.

Yep :)

Glad I'm not the only one who wants to run 15s :)

Why wouldn't you when yoko pradas are £40 each :)

16's are still cheap with plenty of choice. Had some TD's before wish I had never sold them but were 17's

I'll be using 205s, not so cheap :(

Tbh I just like the way it sits on the 16's. How you find the willwoods ?

Well that's my weekend shot :(

16" Steels catch.

Ibiza FR wheels catch.

The TDs are not balanced. I never even checked as I wasn't planning on using them before getting new tyres. Could probably use them for my commute but I wouldn't want to use them unbalanced to bed in the brakes.

So I guess that a) I need some spacers for steels (still have damn good RS-Rs on them so will be using them for track days)  B) I need to hurry up and sort some tyres c) I'll be stealing the girlfriends car for a few days because I'm definitely not putting the old brakes back on.
