  • Managed to get to a track, drive around without breaking anything, and drive back!   Car performed faultlessly and it was a real hoot. Track was wet so was sliding around everywhere but it was fun.

  • ^^^^ you've installed it wrong :P

  • Ibiza 1.8T internals into the Fabia??

70 to 90 I believe.

The S2k filter isn't subtle btw. I find it borderline annoying in traffic with all the racket.

I love the s2k filter, I didn't buy and adapter just used suitible thickness diameter of pipe on maf and slid filter on :)

I have s2000 on my octy and its ace. Just bought a black/red on. 3x the price of a white/green one but will look better lol

First MOT since the transplant and its FAILED! :(

Hopefully some simple fixes:

1. Rear fog lamp tell tale not working

2. Parking brake lever has no reserve travel

And advisories:

Unable to open boot.

Both handbrake's sticking lightly.

Number 2 & advisory 2 I think is the passenger carrier. I've had this problem for a while, originally thought it was the passenger calliper, changed that. Then thought hmm must be cable, but its free as a bird. If I loosen the calliper bolts slightly and pull the calliper forward the brake frees up. Its not binding much at all.

Number 1 may be more difficult - where is it supposed to be on a Fabia? And where is it normally on an Ibiza? Maybe if its on the clocks on the Fabia and on the switch on the Ibiza that is the problem, as neither of those items are in the car. Worst case I asked if I can just have an LED with 'FOG' next to it and the tester said yes :)

Unable to open boot - didn't pull on the lever hard enough :)

Did the Ibiza and donor Fabia both have front fogs?

Ibiza did Fabia did not.

Slightly odd sweep pattern on the pads:

Swapped the rear carrier with the new one I'd already ordered to fix this problem, and its perfect now. Handbrake adjusted. I'd be annoyed if this was the only failure as I was in half a mind wether to whip it off this morning before the 9am MOT slot, but staying in bed seemed like a better idea.

Going to pop out for a test drive later and reverse around, check for the tell tale 'mooing' which should be gone and some enthusiastic braking to see if the uneven patterns wear off. But pretty sure thats it, problem sorted for that one.

Thinking I'm going to put a small LED next to the fog light symbol on the light switch, will keep the MOT tester happy.

Are you using the Fabia switch? If so it will only pull out 1 click, where the Ibiza will have 2 clicks. Not sure if that will be a problem?

Yep only the Fabia switch fits in the Fabia dash.

The switch its self works fine for the fogs, I just don't have any indication to the driver that the lights are on.

I have confirmed that the Ibiza has the indicator light on the switch, hence why I don't have one as I'm using Ibiza clock :)

I'll rip a small LED out of something and mount it in the dash near the switch... should keep the MOT tester happy.

Ah fair enough

Just fit fabia clocks? Lol

Went so well for you that one :P

I like the Ibiza clocks, don't want to faff with the immobiliser, the Fabia had an intermittent immobiliser fault and plus the clocks are in a landfill somewhere :P

Haha mines sorted now.. Just been playing on vagcom and managed to clear all lights. (The ones that are on are because rear sensors arent plugged in yet)

Ah you mean to tell me that sucker should have a light behind it?

Your knob looks to be standing rather proud...

Ive tken the ibiza and fabia switches apart and swapped them over. All works as it should now. On the ibiza theres little leds lol

Small milestone achieved:

Means I've done around 5000 in the Fabia as a 1.8T :) Think I can relax a little... though I need to look at the drive shafts, somethings making funny noises :(

A clunky noise on moving off which sounds like its coming from the inner drivers side CV.

I've got a full set of 1.8T parts sat on the driveway to pillage so I'm sure I can sort it.
