VAG tool 3424, comprised of 3 parts:

3mm Grub Screw

1/2" drive to 1/4" Hex bit (the silver bit)

1/4" Hex to Ellipse bit. Ellipse 5.5mm x 8.2mm, the 8.2mm is from "flat to flat" as its an ellipse with the two points filed flat. the Ellipse is 10mm long.

Yes I'm aware of the hub separator tool and will use one when it comes to putting the new ones in. In the mean time I wanted to get them split so I could move it easier, so I improvised with a chisel, block of wood and a lump hammer.

  • Managed to get to a track, drive around without breaking anything, and drive back!   Car performed faultlessly and it was a real hoot. Track was wet so was sliding around everywhere but it was fun.

  • ^^^^ you've installed it wrong :P

  • Ibiza 1.8T internals into the Fabia??

New high performance triple wheeled front sub frame. Just a few teething issues surrounding fitment of a steering rack but its looking good.

(I wanted my good axle stands to do the back so needed to swap everything around, turns out this setup is more stable than my Sealey collapsible stands...)

Well she's back down on four wheels (2 14" VAG steels and 2 13" Toyota ones :)), underneath is completely stripped, nothing that could be removed without an angle grinder has been left  :)

Few bits inside, master cylinder and that's it!

Now I just need to decide do I get someone to come and pick her up, which will mean dragging her out from under the car port, or do I chop and weigh the metal in bit by bit? It sounds like a bloody good excuse to invest in a reciprocating saw :)

Plasma cutter ;)

Air saw

Hack saw!!!!!! Winning!

I've got a local chap who picks up shells (flatbed truck with crane on it) and pays about £70 a ton. :)  Might be somewhere like that near you.

Most scrappys have a crane on the back of the trucks anyway :)

I made my own tool, used an M20 bolt iirc and just milled it down so it had a 5mm thick flat on it, works a treat every time

The cheap arse force is strong in this one. I may try the same :)

Ibiza is now stripped bare, I even took the door seals (I'm thinking they may make good 'grommets' for any large holes I need to cut for the radiator/intercooler).

I now have a garage full of bits to strip, clean, paint/refurbish which should keep me busy for a while!

Going to order bushes and a timing belt kit to start with. First time touching either of these things so lots to learn :)

I didnt buy that tool, its on loan to me, but I have made quite a few tools for them one off jobs as its something i quite enjoy and runs in the family.

when you say bushes, which ones?

the console bushes on the front wishbones can be bit of a pain unless you are going for the Powerflex ones, I fitted the Cupra ones to my Fabia and i needed to make a compression tool to fit it. whereas the Powerflex one comes in a few bits so its easier to fit

Powerflex for everything but the console where I want to use a SuperPro.

There are plenty of scrap metal merchants, guess I'll just need to sit down and ring round them all. Not fun :(

I didn't even think to look to buy one lol just knocked one up quickly at work.

Cheap spanners have a purpose sometimes lol had to cut bend and grind down a few to fit my exhaust manifold

Found a local scrap merchant that will take the Ibiza away, confirmed they can lift it. Will be taken away and weighed then they pay for it... don't really care how much I get just need rid. Will throw a load of old metal bits in it as well for good measure (pity I can't take the scrap metal out of the engine bay of the Fabia yet and weigh that in too :p).

Rear beam bushes removed - tried the drill method, got bored and found if you heat the inner metal up enough you can wiggle it out of the melted rubber, much easier though I should have done it outside I think :) Over an hour for the first one, 15mins for the second.

The garage/jobs list (excuse the phone pic, the GF has hidden the decent camera since I got grease on it):

Engine still where it fell out the ibiza, under that plastic box top middle :P

Looking forward to seeing how this progresses now, Fabia ahoy! :)

Proper man cave there!
