New Focus ST prices

Featured Replies

maybe not it depends on the spec of both cars at that price!

Order books open on October 1, but if plusher trim, with niceties such as safety equipment, such as traction and stability control, you'll need to move up to the Focus ST 2, which is priced at
Doesn't the Octi come with traction as standard?

Yeah, but traction control is for wusses :D

The Focus comes with Recaros (front and rear) as standard!

It's the same price as the octy , a bit faster , and a lot smaller.

What do you want? More performance or a higher spec larger car?

You're right but i would prefer a lower spec but more powerful car if I was spending the money. Depends alot on how they handle too, should be some interesting group tests coming up by the end of the year. The hot hatch sector is getting very competitive and I reckon Skoda might have priced themselves too high in it.

I don't think Skoda promote the vrs as a hot hatch though.

I don't see how they could have given the Octy vrs a much lower price really.

Its got the same mechanicals as the golf Gti, its a bigger car with similar levels of eqipment for 3-4k less.

The focus ST makes the golf gti look really overpriced but people will still buy the golf by the shedload because of its quality/image etc

They do promote it as "The fastest and most powerful production vehicle ever made by

The spec is very high though Andy, the seats will be more than good enough in terms of support and xenons are the only thing I think would be missing from the spec sheet...

I think this point by Dr Z sums it up though really...

not all parts are the same, some are cheaper and not as high spec

True VW really let their image down on that front!

I have to say that I do like it, even though it appears I'm rigourously defending the Octavia. I just think that they're 2 different types of cars, aimed at 2 different sets of people, both of which I currently sit in the middle of. I'd love either of them as my next car. I'd like the performance package of the ST with the comfort levels and room of the Octavia...:)

I agree they are different cars for different people, the Octy is going to be a roomy, comfy car that's also quick whereas the ST is a blatant hothatch. At the moment practicality is a 100% non issue for me, I'd be looking for what was ultimately going to be the faster, more entertaining more involving drive - given the choice it would be the ST at this point in my life

Our next door neighbour works for Ford Marketing promoting their new models etc, I was told this is the 2005 model and there will be an updated model coming out next year, they don't hang about

but for have huge discounts and great saving which skoda vag etc etc cant match.

Great minds clearly think alike ;)

It's a pity I can't afford to build a kit at the moment. Which kit were you looking at, Colin?

Marlin Sportster using a 325 donor...or an m3 if I'm really lucky. 5 to 8 + donor if I spanner it myself.

Jsut got to convince the old fella to let me convert one of the sheds into a build room...that will cost me a milling machine I reckon, although it has fringe benefits.

Personally, I like the Sylva Mojo which is a cheap kit but looks like a lot of fun, and appears to be high quality. If money were no object, I'd get a GT40 replica, a Diablo replica, or maybe the Dynamic Performance "Attack".

One day, I'll clear the garage out and build something!
