tweenster's Citigo Monte Carlo - it's very red!

I've spent a lot of time in the Citigo this weekend, racking up some 540 miles doing 3 return journeys to Leeds. Averaged over 50mpg on each journey with a best of 58. Car was comfortable but it did prove that I need DAB; trying to get Talksport on medium wave is just rubbish and I miss Planet Rock when I'm in the car.

  • Hi, just a quick introduction having been a reader but not a poster on the forum for some time. I'm a Brit living in Germany and finally picked up my red Monte Carlo last week. The pick up was in Muni

My sis has Citigo elegance, I've tryed to fit led drl, but no luck there, got these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221716784832?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT they had to work just fine, but unfortunately bulbs just burned, so just wanted to ask what bulbs have you used?

LEDs from Hids-Direct, very easy site to navigate, cost £25 lasted over a year now, be sure not to touch the bulbs with bare hands, wear gloves or use a tissue

I haven't used LEDs at all. Completely pointless waste of money in my humble opinion.

Have been driving around the Lincolnshire countryside over the last few days, on two trips the Citigo managed 65 mpg and 58 mpg respectively. Absolutely over the moon with that.

Having just bought a house I have been busy running across Lincolnshire getting things ready for the removals later this week. Citigo averaging well over 60mpg is a real bonus.

Great advice for conventional bulbs, for LEDS it's doesnt matter

Hit 70mpg over a 33 mile route this morning - absolutely over the moon with that!

  • Author

And today I managed 72.7mpg on my 23 mile commute home. Car tax is due so that will be £30 very well spent!

30? Mines 20!

Yes it's £20.

Bargain! Even better news.

I refuelled the Citigo this evening; 470 miles covered and 34.81 litres to brim (2nd click) giving an overall 61.38mpg. Absolutely over the moon with this economy.

Do you drive REALLY carefully all the time?

I would have to try very hard to average 60 something

  • Author

Not usually, it's just that I've started commuting and you can only go as fast as the traffic in front of you, so 23 miles or so at 30 - 50 mph.

To be fair over any journey over say, 5 miles I find it hard to get less than 50 mpg. the worst I got over a 50 mile run once was 38mpg but that was in south Germany on the autobahn at 90 to 100mph!

I only get between 350 to 400 miles per tank. PID indicates 10 miles left usually. Tops up with 34 litres. Who can resist foot planted?

Just taxed the car - a mere £20. I was almost pleased to pay it. Almost!

Been a while since I've updated this; been spending too much time on the 500 mile per tank thread.

Today I refuelled and then headed off to Leeds to collect my daughter from school for half term. I was running late so the driving was, shall we say, 'enthusiastic'; I absolutely love driving the Citigo like this, it is just so much fun, and you are unlikely to lose you driving licence either.

They are a great drive agreed. Always made me smile and as you say unlikely to lose your license too :)

The Swift gives me the same feeling too and has the go kart handling.

Still gives me this even when driving "spirited"

Managed to get 36 litres into the tank today! Only managed 450 miles on the tank though :-(

And managed 11 miles with the PID range on 0.

It may soon be time for the Citigo to move on though; have entered negotiations with my local dealer about a Yeti Monte Carlo.

Looks like everyone is getting rid of their citigos, maybe before they lose even more money.

Potentially mines going in April, probably just going to vt it and start again.

Indeed - I was and am P/X-ing mine for £4500, this is actually my MGFV in September, I currently still owe £5200. However the Skoda deals at the moment are really good. In my case my dealer will be covering my negative equity, then giving me 13.4% discount off the Fabia (£12500) and then I only have to put down a £500 deposit. However they are then also giving me a £500 fuel card (this is actually a pre-paid master card that I can use anywhere) - I will use it it pay the £500 deposit lol then my monthly payments are £150pm :) - Not bad for a top of the range Fabia! (well I don't think so, which is all that matters lol)
