Loaded addresses into SatNav using vCard / .vcf

Featured Replies

Meant to say LoadING.   Has anyone got this to work?  I have tried exporting contacts from work email client (Lotus Notes) and creating them from an Excel macro, but they don't work in spite of the file contents looking OK on a laptop.  The first set imported, but the addresses didn't work.  The second lot were visible as rows on the SD card when I tried to import, but greyed out so I couldn't select them.  The manual is particularly unhelpful.

I have Columbus by the way.  Thinking of doing it because all my saved and recent destinations were lost when I had the hugely expensive infotainment brain replaced this week under warranty...

While they were at it, I also got them to do the codings for near-side mirror drop when reversing, VRS needle sweep and change the interval of squirting the headlights from every 3 to every 9 (to save washer water).  The master tech said he had done the heated seat timeout too, but I am not sure that worked.  Very well looked after by Ridgeway in Newbury.

The system is very fussy, it never really worked properly on the previous Octavia either. The VCF file format expected by the head unit varies slightly from that output from an email client. IIRC for the address to work you need to have the Longitude / Latitude co-ordinates. VW used to have a companion website that generated the correct format VCF files but its been discontinued.

Thanks Manny (I had searched this forum for VCF, but stupidly forgot that the whole site would have been more sensible).

Looks as though it is going to be more of a challenge than I thought, and more of a challenge than it should be.

Useful stuff here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/268803-amundsen-sat-nav-sd-destinations/?p=3497407

I was able to get a .vcf that worked from the VW page http://www.volkswagen.de/de/navigation/rns-510/adressnavigation.html

but cloning another one from it didn't.

I have of course now spent more time trying to get vCards to work that it would have taken to just sit in the car and load them manually...
