Could anybody with vcds in West Yorkshire possibly give Pappafox a little of their time and do a full system scan and post the results on the forum, I feel like crossing the Penines my self.

  • No starting problem what so ever.    One thing I haven't mentioned before. I rarely drive it - it's the wife's car. But a couple of months ago on two or three occasions when I pulled up at a junctio

  • I dont think the wear will be considerable we really arent taking about neglect on any great scale . My Fabia does short trips and low miles and the oil is still clear every year going to service

Is this your engine ?

But as I said you need to get it on vag-com not just throwing parts and money at it

Thanks RichF

Is there a video on how to replace the vacuum pipe from the brake servo? The one I have is split and this is surely not helping the situation!!

No different sensors and I might have one that will fit lying about if it helps

Hi there Toxicvrs

From my long whinge does it sound to you like it could be the Cam sensor ? Would the crank sensor also be an issue.

Doesn't sound like a Cam sensor issue as u find its normally difficult to start and then runs normalish on idle but then creates a juddering motion under any heavy load!

No starting problem what so ever.

One thing I haven't mentioned before. I rarely drive it - it's the wife's car. But a couple of months ago on two or three occasions when I pulled up at a junction,  traffic lights etc the revs would go up say 2,500 rather than usual at idle. If I used my right toe to lift the accelerator pedal "up" then the revs dropped. Maybe that was coicidense on my big toe and the car revs dropped of its own accord automatically!!!

thats likely due to the air leak from that hose ,

OK thanks a lot.  Going to change the air hose in the morning . Will let you know if it cures the problem!!!

Hi all,

Vac pipe change and.....no efiing change, Still have the problem.

So off to the garage in the morning to see what can be done?

Still revving unpredictably ?

I'd put the revving down to a dodgy throttle body! Mine did that

not revving unpredictable

  • Author

starts to lose power at 3,000 rpm need to switch off then on again

  • Author

So a new throttle body if it happens again?

So a new throttle body if it happens again?

Has it been plugged into VCDS yet?
  • Author

i mean for revving. Main problem sounds like this expensive head cum valve guides cum a cxar with 28k miles should nt have this sort of problem!!!

VCDS?

VCDS?

Yes VW Audi Group diagnostics system that shows what's the throttle body is doing

No I haven't done this yet? could this be related to the main issues of the loss of power and engine management light coming on

Possibly! A scan will tell you everything about how the car is reacting

See post 1 for the original diagnostics form the mechanic with "a piece of kit"

The garage is not VAG but the kit had the ability to read fault codes on the engine.

A fault code reader is not the same as VCDS , without using vag-com you won't be identify the fault properly
