Enabling HBA on MY15 Octavia

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

Has anyone had success with enabling high beam assist on a MY15 Octi? Had a go at it today and the coding was accepted fine but no HBA :(

Lights were reset to factory settings in the car setup screen and control set to auto.

Guide followed through to the letter in the sticky thread to no avail, so figured it might require some different coding?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Dan

Glad you got it working, nice £300 mod for free :-)

Must be a bit difficult seeing the manual let alone the small print at midnight especially without HBA.

Yep mine's been activated. I was returning home the other night on dark twisty country roads and had HBA on, very clever piece of kit.

What did you do, to get it to work. Only Ben at shark has coded mine, and every time it's turned on a warning message appears on the maxidot saying it has failed.

I have coded it on a MY15 without any issues.

Followed the coding through on the sticky thread, all went through fine. Factory reset the lights but missed the step to go back into the settings and enable light assist. All works fine now when the headlight dial is set to auto.

During daytime running remember to turn off the Auto lights before using the screenwash or you'll empty your screenwash pretty quick.  Otherwise, I'm with Goldfinger, its a pretty good bit of kit.

That's nothing to do with HBA though, on cars without HBA the same applies.

What spec/options is/are required please Andy to enable HBA?

Does any other piece of equipment needs to be present in the car for this to work?

Sure ? Elegance dosen't have lane assist does it ?

No, Elegance doesn't have LA, but if you spec HBA without LA (which is standard for UK Elegance spec) you get the HBA camera. So, in other words, if you have a HBA camera you already have HBA as that is the only function of that camera, to provide HBA on models without the LA camera.

You can have LA without HBA, even though the camera is ready to go for HBA and all it needs is a bit of coding.

If you haven't got a camera or auto lights you can kiss goodbye to enabling HBA.

The only requirements to enable this on a car yourself are that you have a camera (which will have to be the LA camera otherwise you already have HBA) and auto lights.

So the LA camera is different from the UK spec Elegance camera and therefore, the UK spec Elegance can't have LA enabled via VCDS ?

Yep - Lane assist camera is massive, HBA camera is tiny.

So, if you have LA you can enable HBA (if it isn't already) but if you have HBA only you can't activate LA as it is a different camera.

Andy, can you do me the rear fogs as extra brake lights and alter the brightness of my DRL's in sidelight mode ( as described by xpower )

I seemed to have foung a bottle of 12% red grape juice with your name on. :cocktail:

I can - but do you really want the fogs as brake lights? You have LED brake lights at the moment - do you really want a 21w bulb coming on as well?

I quite like the idea of having the DRLs brighter with just sidelights on. I was thinking of fitting LED sidelight bulbs to get a crisper glow in the headlight as the still look a little yellow even though they are the BlueVision type.

Mmmmm I thought only the rear tail ( C shape ) lights were LED's all the rest normal bulbs, well you learn something every day.

Brighter side lights it is then

Just change the fog light bulbs to LED and they will match the original brake lights. Plus they can be set to LED in the adaptations so no errors :-)

Looks better with the top and bottom coming on with the brakes

Do you have a part number, recommendation for which bulbs to get please,

Pimp my ride time Andy!

:wait:

I've bought some fancy bulbs for the front fogs but can't get my hand in to change them, I ain't taking the front bumper off I'll as never get the thing back on again, might try going in through the wheel arch, I should have been a brain surgeon
