Octavia 2 Ambiente retro-fit cruise control

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently purchased the above (July 2008 50k miles and immaculate), in a bit of haste as our beloved daughter had claimed our much loved Golf Estate GTi 130bhp as her A3 had died.

Got home…dismayed to discover no cruise control, but hey I recalled having it fitted to the Golf = no probs and very cheap too.   But neither the local (S Hants) Skoda main dealer, nor the VW one, have been at all helpful or encouraging despite me showing them the part and fitting instructions on line!  In fact they muttered and scoffed at the very suggestion…….

After searching on line discovered a VW specialist right up in the NE thats will sell and fit it,  and then another VW and Audi Specialist in St Albans that offer to supply and fit for £150+Vat . They are called Hazzydaze.  Has anyone had any experience of either having cruise retrofitted to their Octavia 2?  Using this company in St Albans?

Be grateful for any experience.

Thanks.

PS Please don't suggest I fit it myself - I used to DIY on my Morris Traveller and my Bedford CF - but past it now! Thanks.

Hazydayz (in South Wales I think) have a good reputation.

But for a £35 used part, I'd fit it myself. If you want to head to Herefordshire, I'll happily fit it and code it for you.

I did mine quite easily.

Tech1e on here (in Malvern) is ex-Skoda service crew and will do it for you. Supply & fit. No idea how much, but will certainly be sufficiently lower than £15+VAT to make a saving even with your fuel factored in.

The only overriding factor is whether your existing steering controller will support CC or not. There's a list on the Ross Tech website, but you'll need to know what yours is first (and some on the list are wrong: e.g. The BC suffix controller).

And you may need to run an additional wire to somewhere.
