We got one in Fareham and I have heard that they are, my new MKIII was delivered last week with spanked alloy as well as under body damage, unfortunately our finance guy sighed for it so may have to battle with Skoda for repair. Ideally new wheel but may have to settle for repair so will use Wheel Specialist if it goes that way.

I have mentioned elsewhere, I could tell there would be this issue when I got my Vrs. The tyres are totally unsuitable for these rims. I fitted Alloygators and at the time found them really useful in preventing rim curving. Unfortunately they scuff easy and don't look marvellous once they are marked.

Now after 6 months I am getting a bit bored with the ritual of checking to see if they are pulling out, then having to knock them back in with a mallet. This is probably due to tyre flex. But they have saved my rims. When tyre change time comes I shall choose carefully with these rims in mind.

Must be catching!  I kerbed a wheel yesterday in the insanely tight staff car park where I'm working at the mo!  I don't know whether it's lucky or unlucky that it was a demo car.  The damage was clocked when the geezer picked it up so I'm just waiting for a phone call :o  Fills me full of confidence considering I've just ordered the Black Design Plus Pack so will be getting the 19" Xremes.  One extra inch to damage I guess! lol

Why not just not drive your car into curbs??  I would have thought avoiding solid lumps of concrete with a £25k car would be an obvious thing to do.....

Neily03. I can't be bothered replying as it seems you rarely seem to have anything constructive or helpful to say. Nothing personal.......

It was a simple question, I was simply baffled by you blaming the tyres for your wheel getting curbed which makes no sense whatsoever.....  Although I do understand people getting their backs up when asked to clarify their nonsensical statements and they realise they can't.......

Oh, it does... some people just don't want to take responsibility for their crap driving.  They think the road is a racetrack and they have to hit (literally, it would appear) the apex of each corner.  I know I'm being harsh here, and I apologise, but the issue is that if you rub your tyre against a curb rather than the wheel, then yes it may be cheaper to sort out, but it could lead to tyre damage that isn't apparent, and that could have consequences further down the line if the tyre suddenly and catastrophically failed.  To get a wheel to the same state would require a hefty knock, and you're going to know about that, but tyre damage isn't always quite so obvious.

decided not to bother geting my rim repaired/replaced, as i may do the same again, though this time it was unfortunate that i was a bit too close to the kerb, and a rather deep surface water drain which the wheel dropped into consequently scraping my rim in doing so
