Winter tire max speed warning

Featured Replies

My partner is driving a 1.6 2012 Octavia diesel. Recently she had a flat and put on a space saver and usual tire. Upon doing this the 'winter tire max speed' warning started showing at 55 mph. Fair enough i thought as there is a temp wheel on and staying below 55 is fine. in fact it might be even lower but can't remember off the top of my head....

Anyway, she has now got new winter tires all round. Continental contacts i think, which should be rated to a reasonable speed. The warning is still coming on at 55mph though and i can't seem to find much info about what triggers it or how we go about re-setting it, so that the car accepts we are driving on winter continentals and can go faster than 55.

Any ideas what to do? I.e. to re-set the warning or does it know something that we don't? Cars that seem to think for themselves eh ? ;)

Thanks

you need to re-set your normal max speed warning, as if you have switched on winter tyre setting in maxiDOT which is either  +/- 5 mph of your normal max speed warning.

just reset the max speed warning to 80 mph and you should be fine. (see below link in how to do this)

If you have maxidot you can do it your self in the menu.

OK, thank you. I'll see what she has when she gets home. I do know she has a built in sat nav so might this mean she doesn't have it?

Cheers

Sat nav is on stereo maxidot is done by wiper stalk, does it have a picture where clocks are of a full car with any door, bonnet, or boot open then you can do it from the stalk.

Should tell you in the book.
