Take a break? WTF!

Featured Replies

I keep getting a warning to "Take a break" every 30 minutes or so on long journeys. It's only been happening in the last 2 weeks or so... I did have the car in recently for a cruise control recall, so that may have effected the electrics in some way??

Stop falling asleep at the wheel?  :D

Have a break, Have a Kwik Krap Kit-Kat

I'm not sure what method the car uses for measuring tiredness but I don't think it's time as mine was has only been off twice and was very accurate. Both times I was genuinely tired and thinking of stopping at the next service station. I had been driving 5 hours on one of the days and 6 hours the next. I then drove an 7 hour drive without the alarm going off and without being tired.

Could be completely wrong but that's been my experience.

Yeah mine only appears on long drives and is fairly accurate. I think (but I could be wrong) that 'it' detects reduced concentration on the steering wheel, so perhaps it's your driving style, or if as you say it don't do it before and someone has played around with the CC then that's a good place to start.

After 30 seconds he explains it calibrates itself once over 40mph and then compares steering inputs after that.

I'm sure that you can disable this through the car settings menu.

You can.

Ok.. I have had the balance and tracking adjusted recently, could this be the issue with the steering input?? It only seems to have been activating in the last couple of weeks or so. It just seems strange that it goes off after 30 minutes of normal driving......... I had the tracking done at my local ATS, perhaps I need it to go into my local dealer??

That won't have any effect as it's monitoring steering input from you.

I thought it didn't kick in until you had been driving for 2 hours or something like that anyway?

Sounds like another call to the dealer........

That's what puzzles me. I drove it to Scotland and back and not a peep. I had the recall for the cruse fault done and now its playing up...... Oh well, I'll be on the telebone tomorrow.

What I find interesting about it is that the function is not enabled by default, at least here in Finland; it's something you ask your dealer to enable.

Maybe it wasn't enabled before and they turned on at the service?

Just another item to disable as it's made for the numpy drivers & to appease the insurance companies.................I'm going to be turning a lot of stuff OFF...........

what does the manual say about it?
