Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and have a problem that I am hoping someone could help with! I have a 2007 Octavia vRS 2.0 tsfi that I have just fitted a K&N 57i (57-0570) kit to, I followed the instructions as per the included sheets and started the car expecting to hear that lovely deep induction roar...

Alas, sod all :-(. The car sounds exactly as it did with the standard factory setup!!? What on earth am I missing? All the parts are connected properly, the cold air feed is located well, the clips are tight and all done by the book. There is no roar or suck of air once the throttle is depressed? How can this be? I have fitted induction kits before on other cars with no problem at all so I am truly stumped on this one. It does 'seem' somewhat smoother, but I bought the kit mainly to bring out the growl of the engine ;-) and feel terribly let down.

Am hoping some of you lovely people can shed some light into this somewhat annoying predicament!

I have sent an email to K&N tech support hoping for some solution but am feeling somewhat deflated :-(

Cheers

Do you hear the turbo sucking in air under throttle? You should also hear an audible 'whoosh' sound as you let off the throttle.

If I remember rightly; a turbo car with an induction kit won't gain the same 'induction roar' as an NA car. Not sure why. Someone else with more knowledge may be able to explain why; I think it may have something to do with the intake pipe length on the TFSI kits.

My mk1 vRS WRC, mk2 vRS and mk2 FL vRS have all had Cold Air induction kits on them and none of them have sounded throaty (air sucked directly into turbo so you dont get as much engine noise) like my previous NA cars however what you you do get is more Turbo noise and and audible woosh as the recirc valve recirculates the air.  Not as loud as a Dump Valve but still noticeable.

All 3 have actually sounded like Daerth Vader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! which i actually love but defo not throaty.
