Sniffer apps can see it. Apps like Wifi analyzer will show a network and it's channel and that the name isn't broadcast, you can then use others to get the name.

WEP is the easiest to find the name of

The SSID I use for my home network is Madhouse

We used to have some of the Satirical names like GCHQ etc...

Now we have dual frequency networks...

The 2.4GHz is called "Never gonna give you up"

..and the 5Ghz is "Never gonna let you down"

Ironically, "Never gonna let you down" lets me down the most. Mostly because my laptop can't see it due to the lack of a 5GHz receiver.

Someone's a Rick Astley fan, that's worthy of a beating in itself :D

My network is called ummmmmmm Macdemon.   :notme:

Have had the usual names (Dual Band)

Police Surveillance Van #1

Police Surveillance Van #2

Had never bothered before.

Fairly boringly ours is called the same as the name of the house.

I use MAC filtering as well as WPA2 which annoys anyone that stays with us as I have to add their MAC address to the list.

neighbours used to call their's "noseyb@stards" always made me chuckle if i had to reconnect for any reason &it would be on the list

Our device list is pretty static - so doesn't cause any issues for our own devices, also tend to hard connect most stuff, only exceptions are laptop, tablets and mobiles.

We do have solid internal walls which makes getting WifFi round the bungalow interesting, I've got two access points in the loft.

The work connected kit is on a ring within a ring and no WiFi available on that sub-net  :nerd:

What device are you running to be able to subnet off?

Has to be something abit better than the standard Netgear router lol

Yes pro gear from a major manufacturer.

But then IT is my game and it gives me a secure link to the office.

Roaming uses 10 digit One Time Passcodes from secure tokens.

I call mine "Free internet access".
