vRS R?

Featured Replies

Are you guys really that serious the S3 is that much better interior wise than the Golf too?

The fact that the Audi has that stupid pop up screen that goes above the dash compared to the Golfs i.e VRS touch screen is just a big fail IMO. Really its just minimalistic vs functional as a point of differance.

Over here price isn't even close either, VRS is $47k , GTI golf is $61k, PP is $64k, Golf R is $68k and the S3 hatch  is $79k sedan is $86k!!!!

Same thing GTI vs VRS, apart from their being more colour there is no perceivable quality difference in the GTIs cabin over the Octavias either. Its got everything chromed lined, yay, and  flashy too busy steering wheel but apart from that its the same controls etc and the Octavias instruments are better to look at too. At least we don't have to put up with the stupid speedo calibration change at 100kph that the VW has too.

Seems like brand snobbery to me?

If the VRS R comes out anywhere half decent pricing wise and AWD it will just about set a new category compared to these, size wise its in another dimension. Budget S4 anybody?

Audi's are a lot nicer inside than anything from VW or Skoda. The materials and fit/finish are just far superior imho.

I own an Audi and a Skoda, don't think you can call it brand snobbery. The long and the short of it is the Skoda is cheaper as they have cut MANY small corners off the quality - the biggest things I notice is the much cheaper plastic in the Skoda and the much nicer (real) leather in the Audi. It's also little things like the lack of bonnet gas struts on Skoda's.

I agree there is some disparity in technology which I also don't understand, Audi are stuck in the past with the lack of touch screen. But overall the nicest place to be in descending order is Audi, VW, Skoda...

Guess it's each to their own.

Good to be different

Hence our own opinions.

Otherwise life and car ownership would be boring.

Hence your missus has the Octavia vRS TDI and you the Audi S1.

Pays your money takes your choice or is it value for money

I agree much higher quality.

I'm sure I've read it on here, was convinced it was coming....  I'm off to cry myself to sleep.

The vRS TDi is a great car, but I'd like a greater surge towards the red line - enough to chew the face of anyone who dares suggest they bought the vRS for the spec rather than performance...!

I know, I know.... the TSi.  Damn my commute!

Projected to have the 280bhp Seat Leon motor installed.

Yup, price wise in nz the gti and s3 are in a totally different league to the vRS.

Even though I preferred the interior (quality and styling) of my old '04 S4 to my vRS, I would actually prefer (the fictitious...) AWD 280+bhp vRS to a new S4 - not enough space in the S4 for my family!

5h1t - this probably signifies the end of the business case for the VRS-R then

I'd be tempted... but it's still a Golf and so still looks completely boring and will still have absolutely no space inside, especially compared to the Octavia.

Interesting but it looks a bit dull (not that the Octavia is a revolution).

I looked at it earlier this year and either the golf or the S3 are overly expensive in base form. Though once you spec it like the octavia it does get shocking.

I would put money on that Skoda will not make this, certainly not with 4wd

Though if you prove me wrong Skoda then I owe you a deposit for one!!

I don't think the 600 litre estate boot will be as usable as the O3 version somehow.

Cant entirely understand why they havent launched a GTI or GTD estate, would be pretty popular Id expect. Sell better than an R estate Id wager.

touch screen is really poor to use on the move I find. much prefer the controller on the Audi to select and scroll thru

its always a personal thing choosing and buying cars. Audi and Skoda are different cost and selling items. I have no doubt they are different things to different people. ive had my fair share of both, 4 audis and 4 skodas, pros and cons to both

just hope they do bring out the vRS R

Talking about vrs with the dealer on monday,he mentioned a more powerful vrs is on the way didnt know when, dont know if that would equate to vrs R,
