Kenwood Infotainment interface

Featured Replies

Anyone tried one of these or is considering buying one?

Not cheap but appears to be very well thought out and a serious alternative to official Skoda upgrades.  That it is also approved by VAG is a massive bonus as it wouldn't harm warranty.

Your thoughts?

I'm guessing by this time next year it'll be half that price.

Can't see a price through the link on the Kenwood site, just "find a dealer". It looks like the one in the accessories catalogue. Go on, give us all laugh, how much?

Won't work on the octy 3 either

Check it out on Amazon and fleabay.... the best part of a fahsun knicker to you, guv!

Do tell.  Are the double DIN units not all the same fitment (save for the surround plate) on VAG cars?

The octy 3 (and all MQB cars) have the head unit in the glove box, the dash is just a screen with connectors. The aerial and all connections go straight to the head unit in the glove box too.

And since all the cars controls are run through it, you're stuck with factory fit.

Nothing in my glove box (just had it out to replace a fuse).

It's too dear at the moment but I think I'll ask about compatibility to the car's electronics anyway.  Certainly, they give the impression it's fully integrated, but you are right in as much as it's not spelled out in black and white so that does bring in a big chunk of doubt.

Then your car must be a misbuild, you should have the CD drive and SD card slots in what is a single DIN unit, that's the "headunit".  The screen in the dash is just that a screen that controls the unit in the glovebox.

Infact i'm surprised your car even runs without infotainment unit in the glovebox....

As mentioned those kenwood units don't work on MQB cars.

Ah yes - they are there up at the top.  I mainly listen to the radio wireless when I'm out.

Thanks for the info - it's out of my budget anyway but good to know.

Cheers Smeghead, I was only asking out of curiosity, I thought it'd be round a grand!  No intention of throwing that sort of cash at the car, I did enough of that in my youth.

I've got the 521 model in my van, it's good but a bit slow....

but irrelavant it seems,

are the cd drives etc all the same with the just the display changing model to model? or is the whole unit different?
