Maxxis Tyres

Featured Replies

I need two new front tyres. I have heard good things about Maxxis, do I go for the Vs01 or the Pro R1. Both are nearly the same price but I wondered if anyone has used them before.

I have used them but unsure what is on mine at present I'll have to check later.

I've got them on my Octy ATM. I'd say they're not the grippiest tyres I've ever driven on, but they have amazing feel around the limit (so I see why drifters like them).

I had a set of 4 on my old mazda and were very grippy in the dry but terrible in the wet.

Just as Sharkrider, he loves them

I run the MA-Z1's on my car and I really rate them, really good feel in both the wet and the dry, used to spin my Toyo proxies up all the way upto 3rd/4th in the wet, struggle spinning the Maxxis up however.

Also rate the MA-Z1 Victra tyre.  Now running them all round on the mongrel and it is a good tyre indeed.

SkippyVRS on here has the maxxis MA-Z1 all round. Was brilliant at brands last week in what I can only describe as a hurricane.

Yes, their performance in the wet, as well as great dry grip, is what makes them a real good option,  The tyrereviews website suggests poorer wet grip than some but this isn't the case for me.

Just been told they have stopped doing them in standard fabia size. So going for the vs01's.

I have the opposite feeling, particularly in the wet, which has me wondering if there's maybe a quality control issue from batch to batch in the rubber compound used?

I swapped from Toyo t1rs to Maxxis MaZ1s for their grip and handling qualities

My mate races Time Attack and uses MAZ1s as his wet weather tyres, they grip very well

I have the opposite feeling; the T1R has better wet grip, but the MAZ1 has more feel for exactly where the limit is. And that's based on a worn out T1R vs a run-in MAZ1.
