fab vrs dv

is the stock dv a recirc unit?

just wondering if anyone has fitted an atmo dv to thier vrs, used to love the blitz i had on my scoob, and with my vrs remap coming up i'm just thinking of reliving the days.

or is the boost just not up to making much noise

You can get a DV fitted. The boost the car runs stock will be more than your scoob, but they don't do something that makes it dump.

So the answer is yes you can for about

Urm - it's a diesel, and it REALLY does NOT benefit at all from having a DV - at all ;)

There have been many threads about it, and the ones that make noises like from the Derv Doctor are electronic noise-making devices ;)

Sorry I cannot see the point in dump valves, unless thy serve a practial purpose :(

AS above DV's on Furby vrs, wasye of money as previously discussed.

Derv Doctor do one, but afaik, they don't actually serve a purpose. Have a search on here as Ross explained why in more detail :D

Chris

People tend to use the term Dump Valve very loosly these days. Many cars are fitted with them as standard but they are recirculating rather than the noisy atmospheric ones. OEM ones can be upgraded with better performing Recirc ones as well as the noisy VTA ones.

yes but dervs ont use them !!

Didn't say they did :P

Merely wished to clarify the Recirc Atmo situation.

yeah i know i just wish people understood it lol

Reason why they don't use them is Derv's don't have a throttle plate IIRC for pressure to build up behind unlike the petrol turbo brethren.

The other thing people fail to clock is that cars that have recirc valves as standard, are usually meant to have recirc valves if you upgrade - as the ECU accounts for the extra air being dumped back into the intake and ups the fuelling according to prevent the mix from being too lean. If you vent it atmospherically, you're wasting petrol, the only sideline benefit is that you can enjoy the odd flameout if your exhaust is a freeflow one and is hot enough - my SX used to do this all the time :D

Also VTA valves mean the turbo spins down faster, with recirculating DV's it is dumped back into the turbo keeping it spinning thus reducing turbo lag IIRC.

Oh mate now you're really gonna set the debate off!!

Some might say that the VTA valve offers a benefit by allowing the pressure to escape and thus not stalling the turbo.

no if it didnt vent anywhere then yes it would stall but a recirc doesnt just stick the air back where it was before lol it stick its back before the turbo so its there ready for when the throttle opens again

Gonna stick my nose in and say this is nothing to do with EGR is it? :)

its similar really i suppose

it recirculates gasses again so similar but different

EGR is fitted to reduce emmisions.

yes but its similar in the way that it recirculates lol thats what he was on about

Yeah, but I kind of knew it was nothing to do with dump valves and all that, just a vaguely similar procedure.

I think everyone should just realise that diesels and dump valves do not mix. Like chalk and cheese, oil and water, cats & dogs etc etc. ;)

See someone knows what they are talking about :D

who is that then ?????
