Paint blistering on under side of car

Featured Replies

Hi all

Had my Octy for just over 3 weeks now and I love it.

However, I've noticed some extreme pot marks or blistering on the under side of the vehicle by the doors. I'm pretty sure it wasn't like this when I picked it up so expect it's developed since, but I've not driven over any unusual surfaces and have only covered about 300 miles.

Has anyone else had this problem? What do people think - poor paint job or some sort of damage?

Not sure what to say to the dealer as I half expect them to say I must have done it but I don't think this is acceptable for such limited driving over normal roads. Likewise, if it was loose chippings you'd expect marks elsewhere but I can't find any.

I did have similar marks on my Fabia but they took a couple of years to develop!

Anyway, grateful for your thoughts. Hopefully the pic will upload so you can see what I mean

Its a bitumin coat (Stone Guard) that is applied to the car before being sprayed...Perfectly normal

Ah thank God I asked. Glad it's nothing to worry about and I guess you'd know that area well!

Not sure why I didn't notice it at pick up but I could have sworn it wasn't there. Must be a trick of the light - that laser white can play havoc with the eyes! (or more likely me getting carried away when I took delivery)

My candy white Scirocco looks exactly the same. I'd be more worried if it wasn't like that since the area gets a lot of stone chips and the coating helps it from rusting.

That was the first thing i noticed when i picked up my car. Absolutely normal.
