Featured Replies

As per title on my fabia vrs (blt) my right Indicator is flashing really fast?

On the outside the front right is flashing as normal but the right is completely out?

Is this a fuse issue?? Any help much appreciated Thanks

P.s. When hazards are on all flashes normal aaccept rear right (which is dead)

Will be just a bulb.

Yes they flash faster when a bulb fails.

My bulb is working but soon stops unless u give it a whack, got MOT in 20 mins - anyone got a quick fix?

Cleaned contacts on bulb and holder and point where i can see connections - any more ideas?

buy a new bulb or check for corrosion on the holder

Bukb is fine, swapped sides works ok... Checked for corrosion on all contacts i could see

Try bending the centre contact of the holder upwards?

Tried that :(

hmm maybe you should give up and scrap the car, like what people seem to keep saying on here when something breaks :)

Only joking, which light is not working properly?

If it works when you hit it then must be a dodgy connection somewhere either the bulb holder or the connection to the cluster

Probably a break in the filament that keeps making intermittent contact. Change the bulb.

MOT must be nearly over, wonder if it worked for long enough to pass? :wondering:

More worried about new brake shoes just installed this morning tbh! Its in there now, just came home for a cuppa, ill put new bulbs in if it fails - pretty confident it's not the bulbs and the big pile of inaccessible wires by the fuel filter, everytime gave em a wiggle seemed to help! Couldn't get my arm in there to pull connection off n give em a clean!

My Dad told me once, " If you can't fix it with a hammer it must be Eletrical "

Phew, stayed on for MOT but failed on another drop link...( Jeez surely meant to last more than few years...) sticky front caliper (think i created that issue bleeding the brakes this morning!)  and rear numberplate light out

Are the front shocks original? I have a feeling that old shocks may allow much more small fast movement of the unsprung masses, causing a lot more stress/strain on things like the droplinks and ARB bushes.

Meyle HD droplinks are very good. Much beefier than the originals.

+1 for meyle hd ones, they are fantastic quality although as wino says if the shocks are worn out you may have a bit more movement on the front end over small bumps. just replace both droplinks at the same time as id guess the other won't last much longer. I paid £23 for a pair of meyles about 2 months ago off ebay will see if i can find the link

The latest cars, well Polos at least, have a newer version of ARB droplinks, the link itself is now U shaped - maybe alloy, time will tell how long the bearings/bushes at the ends last.

Intermittent front indicators, my wife's previous Polo, a 2002 car, had that trouble, though I've never ever noticed anyone on the Polo forums reporting that. My only fix was to move the wiring up to nearer the bulb, in that car, the indicator bulb plugs into an adaptor and the wiring plugs into the end of that adaptor, as far as I can remember, so I linked the incoming wire across from the incoming wired plug to the bulb end of the adaptor leaving enough room, just to allow for that bulb to get replaced as and when necessary. I put that issue down to a crap bit of design that worked on one side but its mirror image did not quite stay working, I felt that it impacted my wife's safety so worked hard to remove that ever happening again.
