Would this cause hard starting cold or hot

Featured Replies

A mk2 1.9tdi 110 that's had a full top end rebuild but using 130 injectors and fuel pump, he suggested a possible cam sensor (but said there's no fault codes showing) I said maybe glow plugs, yes/no

I'm not sure how you managed to get 130 injectors into a 110 engine. They're completely different as the 130 is a PD engine. Some clarification on the car, engine, work done etc. would be good.

there are pd110 engines so it is possible...

It's an 05 1.9tdi pd 110......it had a recon head from a 130 I think therefore having the right injectors, pump ect.....but why it's so hard to start cold or hot god knows. It's going to a guy I use on Monday to see if he can spot anything.....I need engine and/or g/box mounts too

Can anyone shed any more light on this.....I've read about the starters, earth straps and batteries can cause this carry on, but it's turning over fast enough just not catching. The glow plug light's coming on for about 3-4 secs, so that's ok, that's why I thought it was maybe the 130 injectors and pump. But then again, when going it's spot on

Sorry, but I've just gone right through the VAG range of engine codes in Etka and they didn't make a 1.9 TDI PD engine with 110 brake horse power. What's the engine code of the original engine? And which fuel pump was fitted?

Where is it, head, block ect....doesn't say on the receipt what make just that its the 130

The receipt says...recon head, new valves, head bolts, skimmed, gasket, water pump, timing belt, 130 injectors and fuel pump

I would start looking at the cam and pump timing first.

Your engine code will be in the handbook, something like BEW for example.

That's the thing, There shouldn't be any pump timing to set up on a 1.9 PD engine.

Maybe not on the pump but certainly camshaft timing if it has had the head of.

Didn't get one, Where on the block will it be

I guess that's why it still runs, idles and pulls fine....just hard to start

Thanks, I'll check shortly......should that still cause hard starting cold or hot though

I would guess that (as said) the cam timing is out of spec, but the guy who did the head work would possibly have checked this? I would wait til your other guy has a look tomorrow and see what he says, if he's trustworthy.

If you look in the boot under the carpet near the spare wheel there might be a sticker with all the PR codes on it. Or on the cambelt cover (as long as it's the original cambelt cover...) http://www.blauparts.com/vw/vw_engine_code/how_to_find_vw_engine_code.shtml

Mine's (if it's the original cover, I can't see why not) BKC 528064....I'll check the boot tomorow to see if it's the same, if not then then the boot one's right and the one on the cam cover obviously came with recon head

BKC is a 105BHP engine. So that's cleared that up nicely. As said, check the cam timing first and go from there.

Im taking to the local guy in the morning, he's really checking the engine/g/box mounts but he'll hear me start it and will probably check it

Guy read for fault codes and 4 glow plus and cam sensor came up, he cleared it and sensor up again. He said whoever did the head work maybe got the belt a tooth out because they didn't line it up right, he said he'll take it off and do it right, if that doesn't cure it then a sensor probably will. I said I didn't understand why it idles and runs fine though, he explained it but i can't be arsed writing it all lol. So I'll get belt checked for alignment then maybe sensor

I had an issue with my 1.8T after I had a new belt kit and water pump fitted.

After a few miles it put the EML light on but it had no other symptoms it ran well and pulled like a train the tick over was spot on and no issues starting.

But it was checked and found to be 1 tooth out.
