Problems with heater blower fuse and rear hatch, assumingly provoked by rain

Featured Replies

Hi!

I've had a problem for a year or so with my 2006 Octavia II. The hatch opens when it's raining, or after it's been raining. I've been observing the problem for a while now. Luckily, when I lock the doors , it does not open.

Another problem that's occured just recently, is that the fuse for the heater blower burns, without a warning. It's been raining almost daily here in Norway since this has startet to happen, so I actually don't know whether this has anything to do with the rain. The only thing is when I change the fuse during rainy weather, it burns instantly. If I wait till dry weather, this is not a problem.

I'm thinking this could be due to water causing a short somewhere...

I would be extremely thankful for any thoughts about this!

Soooo, I disassembled the heater blower yesterday, and tested it straight from the battery. The fan works fine, but when I put a 5A fuse on the circuit, it burns instantly. 25A also burns. Even though I'm not an electricity genious, i guess this means it's the fan that's the problem.

Changed the blower motor, fan and regulator/"hedgehog" (one unit). The fuse still burns. Would be very thankful for feedback on this, also from users who have had the same problem...

So, now I've gotten a diagnosis at Skoda, and the diagnostic tool logged 00819 with "interruption/short to ground" (directly translated from Norwegian) as description, for the G65 pressure sensor. Before I dissembled it, I had a quick look at the water/cooler-tank, and noticed that the level had dropped to minimum. I'm absolutely sure that the level was higher just some weeks ago. This could mean a leak, and after dissembling the pressure sensor, I noticed that the socket was wet. After reassembling, it works fine. Let's hope it stays that way.

I know it's a while ago, but how did you get to the G65 to remove the connector?

Also, how is the connector released?  Does it need a screw driver down the side of it or something?

Regards

Tom
