While I was on Da Toobe, this one popped up...

LH, his first year in F1, no gold chain but Stevenage Chav shining through big time!

You're so bad!  Isn't there somewhere else for you to peddle your anti-Hamilton tripe...every time you mention him in a post. Are you in the KKK?

  • There doesn't seem to be any love for Kimi after coming from the back and finishing 4th  - I haven't seen his name mentioned once in any of the commentaries. I think he did well after the mess up that

Yes if Ferrari are defending from williams instead of attacking Mercedes then I think that may well be the tone of the year. I do see Ferrari winning a few more races but the advantage that merc had in Melbourne doesn't just disappear. Looks can be deceiving ;).

Previous years would suggest that it is often the Melbourne form that is the fluke (see Sauber this year for evidence?)  We shall see.

Merc1-2 on the green track in FP1

Sorry, didn't realise you were such a massive groupie :D.

Take note that I have the utmost respect for his driving abilities, he might even be the greatest F1 driver, only time will tell.

I just take exception to his personality and his style.

Why reference to KKK? Are you racist or something?

Looking like it could be reasonably close again, well as far as practice goes anyway. Button managed 10th in FP2, heading in the right direction.

just the right amount of uncertainty and closeness to make the prediction picking tricky

McHonda out in Q1.

but only 1.7 off the fastest, so that must be progress :)

Hmm.  Why don't Mercedes look towards the race more? With their drivers an easy 1-2 after 1 run in Q3, why did they burn up more sets of tyres?  Ferrari were never going to get close. Team management should have denied LH / NR another go - to improve their tyres available for the race.

Maybe they prefer driving on part worns?

Best news of the day. Button out qualifies alonso.

Looks like normal service has resumed.

Merc with massive advantage again.

Ferrari still 0.9sec behind

Williams not shown true pace due to drivers errors

Red Bull to far off the pace to count

McHonda where it should be, almost 5 secs off the pace

Rosberg well cheesed off on missing the pole by 0.04 sec! It looks like he might have found his edge again - good for the race :)

BUT, the biggest surprise of the China GP so far is the fact that Suzi Perry actually looked rather hot :D

... by 0,004 sec - I bet he went and popped a bottle of bubbly straight after he got out of the car having dropped out in Q1 :)

Normal service resumed.

Wtf was button thinking? D'oh! I wonder if rosbergs cracked already. He's incapable of acting Mr tough guy that's for sure....

I don't understand Rosberg moaning that Hamilton was going to slow. If that was the case get to within one second and pass him under DRS.

Never been a Hamilton fan but he was great in the press conference today. He has added humour to his undoubted driving ability. Poor old Rosberg lost the plot. Vettel and Hamilton had a good old laugh at his expense.

Hahahahaha, Nico has got his knickers in a right twist

Oh dear Nico. If Lewis is going slow go and overtake him; you just know that is what Lewis would do.

Vettel seemed to be engrossed in texting in the press conference until nico started whining. He looked up with a classic wtf grin. Priceless.

Rosberg seems rattled. Not something I would associate with him as he is meant to be the thinking driver bit it was lewis that looked after the tyres and ramped up the pace before the second stop. In the end the much hyped Ferrari tyre life didn't materialise as Mercedes matched them but the red cars look like they will cling to the merc coattails at most races. Well done to Hamilton and Mercedes this weekend, very well deserved. Gutted for Max Verstappen though, another stunning drive ruined by reliability

Well if Rosberg doesn't buck up soon, his team role will clearly be to get in Vettel's way for the rest of the season.

I think he's stressing about being a number two.

Well, well, congrats to Suzi's stylist - she came a long way this season ;):)

I am full of admiration for LH this race, what a stellar, mature and masterful job that bloke did!

Controlled the whole race, had the pace when he was required to have to within a hundred of a second and was absolutely ruthless in his execution. He even tucked away his chav gold chain ;)

Seriously, he showed a sublime masterclass in Chinam, all week.

After the last race Merc were clearly woried about the tyres and were managing them very carefully, even too carefully according to Nico, who sadly came short and lost his cool ever so slightly. Typical German mentality, sth was agreed during the pre-race strategy meetings and he was expecting it to be adhered to. LH took a long pi$$ at it and decided to take control form the lead and run the race he wanted to run with the tyres worries they had. Nico should really stop whingeing and start doing his talking on the race track, not in the press conference room... dissappointed in him!

In reality the most heartening thing about this race was the fact that despite Merc still having more than 0.5sec a lap advantage racing was closer (Ferrari was never a danger to Merc) and made for at least an ever so slightly fake yet better spectacle.

What I enjoyed the most was the driving Max showed today, mark my words, he will be getting a much faster steed for the next season if keeps up this level of performance. Excellent car control, very cool head on very young shoulders and masterful use of superior brakes - it does show how important good brakes are on any car ;).

Daniel had a great scrap with Ericsson, was a pleasure to watch.

JB unfortunately felt a little bit too racey today and made a rookie mistake, but at least he had a pair to own up to it straight off the bat - 2 points on his super license.

In a nutshell normal service resumed indeed. Albeit ever so cautions due to tyre deg worries from the Mercs but underlying pace is currently beyond reach of any other team on the grid.

Nice race!

EDIT: It was fascinating to hear a clear audio of Verstappen's pistons seizing and munching on the valves, like a 2-stroke 100cc indeed :D

Valves in a two stroke.

Valves in a two stroke.

NO, piston seizing, :dull::giggle: :wonder:  - it was a comment made by one of the BBC commentators and a common occurrence in very highly strung two stroke engines.

One of the things that pleased me most was Manour Marussia making it into the 107% rule. Although once again, next to no coverage. You'd have thought there would have been a bit more interest in the team, especially from the BBC with a Brit driving.

Right now LH is the odd's on favorite for the title. It's a shame Ferrari seem to have overhauled Williams.
