turbo 1.4 8v

Featured Replies

hey guys im new on here what made me get a skoda i dont know but im glad i did

has any one ever gone boost with there 1.4 mpi if so how long has the little engine gone before blowing up... ?

Thanks shiftypowers

Not much point, you'd need so many modifications and the results simply wouldn't justify the outlay.

If you started with the 1.4 16v then maybe, 150bhp could be easily achieved with that engine.

There's a lot of talk of them on here, but the only two I know of that are actually running are Ben's and one built by Unit 18.

Ben's thread can be found here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/318552-fabia-mk1-18t-build/

The easiest way of getting a 1.8T in to a Fabia is to find a Seat Ibiza 1.8T donor car. If you are happy with 150bhp it could be done quite cheaply, by basically transferring the stock engine, intercooler, exhaust, brakes, rear beam etc. over in to the Fabia. This could be done for the price of a 1.8T Ibiza donor (I paid £1000 for a 44k Cat D Ibiza, sold around £500 of parts and £200 or so still sat in the garage waiting to sell). If you have more engineering skill, automotive electrical skill or just want to make things difficult for yourself, the donor car could be something else... Skoda Octavia vRS, Seat Leon, Golf etc.

I'm just at the point of moving my Fabia estate back in to the garage to fit the 1.8T engine I took out of a Seat Ibiza a few months ago. Currently I've spent over £4k and still need to buy a FMIC, exhaust, suspension and remap. BUT I did spend £1100 buying an LSD and getting it fitted, and have a stack of parts ready to fit to the car. But I'm not aiming for 150BHP so everything is being upgraded as I go along, new bushes, ball joints being replaced etc.

Shameless plug: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/328836-the-bucket-18t-fabia-estate-project/ :p

thats sound like fun yeah i was thinking going to need a better drive line etc the engine alone can get off ebay for around £300 i think but that with no turbo etc or one with it all for £500 but as you said could use the drive line of the seat

thats nice might have to get a cheap run around why i do it a old ford fiesta some cheap shed really

If you just put a 1.8T in a Fabia without touching the brakes, suspension etc you'd probably die :P

Minimum though you could do it with engine, drive shafts, turbo, intercooler, radiator (1.4 rad is almost 1/2 the size of the 1.8 rad), exhaust and intake or some sort... just buy a donor car :P

yeah its looking the best way to go i have lots of room at the back of my house too so room is a go finding a cheap seat is on the cards now wont be untill after xmas noe :(

That's boring...

Fabia 1.8t club is still small and exclusive.

I wouldn't buy an engine though.

I'd do like Dan has and get a whole donor car.

That way you have everything you might need, including brakes!

That's why I have a smashed up Polo GTI here. :D

Bah you changed that between me finishing reading it and hitting quote! Was going to say: Don't you have a surplus GTI now you have the Corrado? :P

Yes, but the Corrado is for a Santa Pod Fabia thing.

The Polo GTI is for my "ultimate Fabia" thing. ;)

I'd agree don't just get an engine as otherwise you spend too much time trying to find other parts. I've raided a Golf which is still not the same for a few parts.

Without a doubt, the drum brakes barely stop a 1.2 ;)

Um... Ok.

Said it before and I'll say it again: seek professional help.

The 1.4 16v is ok to turbo, this video clip shows that, he has done a low boost set up running standard rods and pistons.

won't last long

won't last long

Why won't it last long?

Low boost, correct mapping and not running massive power, no lag because of normal compression and a bit of a kick from the turbo, this will be fine as long as the boost stays low.

Obviously if you are going for 300bhp a lot more would need to be done, rods, pistons etc.
