Featured Replies

Log book for my Rapid Sport arrived today and thankfully it's down as a 'Rapid Sport TSi' so no worries there!

Looking forward to wednesday more than ever now - really looking forward to the drive home to Montrose from Manchester - give it a good run before mapage!

Dave :-)

Oh great. Won't be long now :)

Got word today that all is ok.  They had busted their balls on the deal and could not justify dealer transfer transport so my sales chap caught a train yesterday down to where car was, slapped on the trade plates and drove back up - no biggie and doesn't bother me.

Car already has been PDI'd and will be again by supplying dealer and has had its flaps and rubber mats 'fitted' and is due in valet bay on Monday for Wednesday collection.

What should i be emailing the dealer to check / do before i collect?

  1. Check door drain holes for blockages and if water is present
  2. ....................

Must say, i'm inexplicably excited about collection even though i've had far better / nicer cars in the past - i think it's due to my return to petrol engines after a good while with diesel.  And a good petrol engine too.

Plans are -

  1. Poor boy sealant for the wheels almost immediatey
  2. Arrange gloss black roof, grille and door bottom stripes in vinyl
  3. Eibach springs all round - do Skoda acknowledge that these are warranty safe?
  4. Cheeky wee remap to around 150bhp if claims are correct
  5. Can a centre armrest be fitted?
  6. Check for this dreaded 'booming' - dunno what exacty this is and how to sort if i need to

But in any event, should be great :-)

theres a thread or 2 about the armrest. saw them on superskoda today 159 euro I think.

how to fix the booming thread is here too, adjusting the hatch is the answer.

eibachs are on SUK part list

who does 150bhp out of the 1.2?

Awesome - thank you :-)

I'll call the dealer re the eibachs.  Revo are almost there at around 145 bhp IIRC.

Warranty VOID lf remaped

Roof and Grille in Black = great :)

Think vinyls on the doors will spoil it.

Eibachs no worries as said with Skoda. My dealer can supply and fit for £160 :)

Wouldn't remap under warranty as it will void it as said.

Good luck :)

Natalie's blacked out grille here.  Also some pics of blacked out roof:

Look here. I like the factory side stripe and the matching one for the boot:

Skoda UK obviously didn't and deleted it from the Sport spec.

Must be available from european Skoda dealers.

Who's your dealer (in Bournemouth I presume)?

Cheaper for me to get the boat from Jersey to Poole for a day than use my dealer, who wants £600 to supply and fit the Eibachs, plus I'll get a day trip out of it, get a chance to do over 30mph, and be able to drive more than 5 miles without ending up in the sea!

They're called Meadens Skoda of Sway. Family business I've been dealing with for 8 years :)

Excellent all round service.

Meadens are usually fairly well priced for their cars right enough.

Not overly fussed about the lack of warranty as it'll only void it for engine - strong little engine im sure.  Reputed to be around 120bhp as standard anyway.

The factory stripes annoy me as they most recent Skoda brochure shows them for the sport without any small print on the double page spread to point out that it is not UK Spec.

Seem to have a decent contact for Vinyl up near me and fingers crossed the springs are affordable.
