EPC light, Engine light basically everything!

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm having serious trouble with my octavia (1.4 petrol) and whenever something gets fixed theres a new problem. The car needed a new engine a few months ago but since the new engine went in there more and more problems with the car. The EPC light is always turning on and off. Got a test done and had the car checked out (numerous times) but the light keeps coming on and off. I'm kept being told there is nothing wrong with the car.

It drinks coolant and oil faster than a fish!!!! They both need CONSTANT attention.

About 3months ago the engine light came on and needed a new coil pack. This seemed to fix the problem. Unfortunately the same problem is just after happening this morning.

Has ANYONE any idea what is going on or should it just be scrapped? It has about 115,000 miles on it and I travel about 350 miles a week. Could the long travel be the problem????

Really at my wit's end now. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Monkey88,

                     Welcome to the forum.

Your Octy , what year/model is it ?

The weekly mileage shouldn't be a problem for it , nor for a new ? engine .

Was it a brand new engine or recon or from a scrapyard.  For a new engine there must be something wrong with it if its  drinking oil and coolant , take it back to whoever supplied it,  for a recon take it back to whoever reconditioned it and if a scrapyard job well its pot luck really.

If its using coolant and oil it could be the cylinder head/gasket at fault.

Was it scanned when the tests were done , were you given a readout ? If the light comes on it usually leaves a fault code which can give a clue to the problem.

I'm not really up to date on the 1.4 petrol engine but some one who is could help you out.

Bump this. Not too many 1.4 TSI stories here recently. I would like to know more.
