She's at the dealers! - Current UK delivery timescales update

Featured Replies

Thought I'd post about my current delivery timescales as I know a lot of people ask.

I my ordered  Oct3 Combi Elegance 150 DSH on 13th October and was told that because of the number of extras it's a factory order.  I was quoted mid Jan for estimated delivery time.

I got a call a couple of weeks ago to say it would be built w/c 24th November and collection would be 3 weeks later.  Yesterday (Wednesday) I dropped in to the dealer on the way past for an update and they said they'd just unloaded it from the transporter into the secure storage compound.  That makes 9 weeks from order to collection availability.

Now for the frustrating part - they couldn't get it ready for collection tomorrow (Friday), don't do weekend collections and I can't collect it next week as I'm on a training course so can't get there in time

I've got all my bits ready to go on too - VCDS, bonnet struts, footwell lighting.  I'm interested in fitting a rear camera as I have a dodgy neck and the camera on the Kia is extremely convenient.  I found a thread where someone started but the thread seems to have died with no updates.

This is what I ordered:

O3 Combi 150 DSG Elegance

Candy white

Canton

Columbus

Bi-Xenon

ACC

Black leather

Winter pack (heated screen, seats, washers and mirrors)

Front/rear parking sensors

Kessy

Sunset glass

LED rear lights

Electric boot

Not very helpful of them.

It might have been worth asking the Dealer Principal if the car could have been prepared for Friday delivery

if the Sales Manager was finding your vehicle low on the list of priorities.

(ie,

Getting their Demonstrators ready for the weekend,  to get more orders and sales.)

Customer Services does not seem to be their strong point,

i hope they are happy waiting now for receipt of payment on the car.

Enjoy it when you get it.

I did push for Friday but they had too many others to squeeze through PDI.

I'm also frustrated for another reason.  The dealer told my that my detailer could do his magic on the car at their premises before I took delivery.  Now they say he can't as they don't have space for him to work.  I'm going to have to get it done after collection, so I told them not to even look at it with so much as a cloth or sponge within 10m of them.

It's a royal PITA for me.  The detailer is 40 miles away and he'll need it all day.  I have no way of getting home after I drop it off and getting back once it's done.  I can't even take the day off work as I'm short of holidays due to only starting the job in September.  The guy can't do it at my house as my drive is too narrow and I have no garage, so if it rains he'd be stuffed.

They have to remove the Transportation Protection & be sure as part of the PDI that the Paint & Trim is all OK.

As well then to not have it put through the PDI as a rush job,

if they are as rushed as all that with deliveries.

Now they have the time for it being done correctly.

You best have your camera with you,

and check everything closely around the roof etc before taking it away to pass onto your detailer.

Yeah - they are going to "de-bag" it and no more with regards to the paint/trim etc.  Don't worry - my camera will definitely be with me and I will be going over it with a fine toothed comb.  That's also the reason that I turned them down when they said I could collect it late in the evening - there's no way I'd collect a car in the dark.

My wife went to collect her new one a couple of weeks ago and there was a massive scratch in the wing where they'd obviously caught it on a post or something.  They claimed it wasn't there the previous day when the PDI was done and the car parked where it was when she went to collect. The wife pointed out that they'd parked it next to a wall so no other vehicles etc could have hit it.  The only way it could have been done is if the damage was there before the vehicle was parked, so they must have done it between the PDI and parking it up ready for her to collect or they completely missed it on the PDI.

My experience:

Ordered 19/09/14

Delivered 21/11/14

9 weeks in total

Spec:

Octavia VRS TDi estate DSGCandy White

Full leather with grey Piping

Amundsen Sat Nav

Black Design Pack

Electronically heated folding wing mirrors

Heated front seats

Panoramic sunroof

Sunset privacy glass

iphone connector

I ordered a Scout with a few factory fitted extras at the end of October, was phoned by my dealer last week to say that my vehicle had been built ( exactly the build week the dealer told me it would be within days of placing the order).  Had a further update earlier this week to say it had reached port of exit, so hopefully i will be able to pick it up on the 27th December when i have a free day to travel north to collect it.

So far, throughout the buying experience I can't rate the dealer highly enough - well done Dennis Horton & Son of Lincoln.

I ordered my 1.4tsi DSG Elegance Estate on 13th September. It should be delivered to the dealers today or tomorrow. I'm picking up on the 20th.

That's 14 weeks by my calculation and sooner that originally told to expect it. Looks like newer orders are getting done quicker, even mine was bought forward a week.

Spec:

Heated & Electric seats, Columbus & Canton, pano roof, paddle shift, Bi-Xenons & rear LEDs, parking sensors and rear camera, Chrome trim and silver rails, sunset glass, adaptive cruise and the all important spare wheel :D

Octavia Elegance 2.0 DGS (Canton SS etc)

Well I now have no idea what's going on with mine looking at these posts.  Nothing like the 9 weeks you guys are getting.

I ordered mine in July with a confirmed build date in early October - delivery date Oct 17th to dealer.  I then received a call the day before delivery to say Skoda had restarted the order because they stopped doing the Sport Pack!  New delivery date mid Feb!!!  Mine will be 7 months if I'm lucky.  Skoda Customer Services have been absolutely abysmal.  This is my first experience with Skoda and I'm already fed up with the service.

I'm just hoping it's worth the ridiculous wait as everyone seems to have really positive experiences of their new motors.

I do wonder if they do production runs in batches of vehicle types and some of us just get lucky and order a variety that they're due to build soon.

This is my first experience too and I have to say it's been very good. Are you going direct through a dealer or is it a leasing/finance company? A colleague of mine is trying to get a Qashqai through a leasing company and she's not had a good experience at all.

I'd have walked away if I got the treatment you're getting. I'm equidistant from 2 dealers and I visited both - one didn't really make much of effort to get me a test drive arranged, couldn't give me a brochure and although they took my details they never called. The other was very helpful, highlighting DPF issues on low mileage (first I'd heard about it), happily arrange a 4 hour test drive and his colleagues were just as helpful when he was not available after the test. You can guess which one got my business. Had similar differences when visiting different VW dealers too - some extremely helpful, some abysmal.

I think they ramped up some production shifts after the August break that they have. It wouldn't surprise me if they do runs for particular regions - no point in producing Australian orders in dribs and drabs when they don't have regular boats. Likewise producing RHD vehicles together in shifts would help the production and QC process I'm sure. They averaged about 1,000 Octavias a day in 2013 across all the factories (6 I think?) - you'd want to do that as efficiently as possible!

Yep it is via a leasing company at work although I have been dealing with Skoda UK direct since October.

I'll get there.  I'm just venting my frustration really while so many on here are blasting around in their new motors already and I have another 2 months to go.  Roll on Feb!

(BTW I got my packs wrong above.  It was the Black pack they said meant the order had to be restarted, not the Sport pack as I said above.  Still very annoying though when it's their mistake).

Picked up my Scout 184 DSG today, Corrida red, just two months from order to pick up.

All our dealings with Rainworth Skoda were very good, and Steve kept us fully informed every step of the way. :sun:

I managed to get away from the training course early today so I could collect her from the dealers.

She's home safe, bonnet struts installed and all VCDS tweaks that I wanted done.

Got her booked in to the detailer for protection application on 23rd.

There definitely seems to have been a shift in build times - I ordered an Elegance H/B with Winter Pack, Xenons and sunset glass on 15th October with the dealer telling me it'll be January or February...  I pick it up this Friday.

vRS estate ordered 8th September....arriving on Santa's transporter on the 23rd

Ordered my Elegance TSI Estate mid October, advised delivery would be around Feb 15, as of today there is no news or build week according to the dealer. I am quite happy to wait as my current tax runs out Feb, so the new car will have a '15' registration and not a 64, when I come to sell it (Hopefully I will love it so much I will want to keep it!) I would rather state it as a 2015 model and not a 2014. My Avensis was registered December 2011 but is in fact a 2012 spec model but I can only advertise it for what it is, 2011.
