60bhp & 75 bhp - hardware differences?

Featured Replies

WHat is the difference between the 60bhp and 75bhp engines? Is it just the map or are there hardware differences as well? If it is hardware, can the parts be retro-fitted (maybe with  map) to the 60 bhp engine?

Map iirc

It's just the map. The difference in power occurs from about 4250rpm.and above. Below that both the engines have the same power and torque curves.

In fact I was thinking of getting my sport remapped as apparently 80 - 85bhp is possible.

However the one remapper who claim to be able to map these hasnt responded to my query email. Thats bad customer service from vtune in leeds.

I've just been reading the Up Forum thread on the subject. It strikes me as odd that there is just the one tuner offering a remap at present; or is that just the cynic in me?

Although there are a few tuners in Europe apparently offering remaps. If they can't offer remaps they could have emailed me back and said so. I wouldn't use them now anyway if that's there attitude to customer service.

A remap on a 1 litre 3 cylinder is laughable. It's so pointless the big companies who map cars won't do it.

Get an engine conversion and be individual. The new 1 litre turbo can be ordered from VW after the new year. I know it's a lot of work but would be worth it

It's not about performance,I have the Fabia if I want to go faster. Is all about the smile factor and a few more bhp at 6000 rpm would be fun.

I'm very interested in your engine conversion though.

I'm tempted to buy a 3litre petrol e46 for fun. Reckon I can get a 2000 one for a grand or so. 6 cylinder n/a smoothness and 230ish bhp.

Still fancy remapping the citigo too, if only so I can rev the engine fully.

I think I'd prefer this.....

Parking in Tesco would be a nightmare!

Parking in Tesco would be a nightmare!

It's what the parent and child bays are meant for :-)

How do they reduce power from 75 to 60? Is throttle flap closing a bit over 4500 rpm, or what. I don't think they can retard ignition timing as it's not good for environment.

If you count in percentages 60 to 75 is quite a lot. So why not remap if it's possible.

The engine HW is identical.

I do believe the 75bhp has a slightly shorter final drive ratio too.

The power and torque curves are identical upto 4500rpm so maybe the ecu doesn't add as much fuel on the 60hp model.

Ecu cannot reduce fuel amount as lean mixture would burn hole to a piston.

I think I'd prefer this.....

I wonder is the blonde on the options list that goes with it....

Did you try to call them? Maybe they are busy and don't have time to answer all the emails.

Secret Handshake Society???

So has anyone had their Up/Citigo/Mii remapped? Is anyone in the UK actually able to do this?
