  • Well I've finally collected my RS3.   So I thought I would share my initial thoughts and photos:-           Two RSs together:-   The car is really easy to drive as I was so nervous d

  • Not sure an M2 is ideal for the commute.  Or loading the family in. Also the 1 series can't have adaptive cruise, so not sure about the 2. Wanted something a bit more sensible as I have a quick week

  • Nah, leave him be, the 7R forums will eat him alive, at least here we know where he is and it beats care in the community

I thought you meant at a dealership. :D

Obviously not going to get invited to that as I am a random punter who has one Audi purchase to date.

Also not on twitter and well known with 72k followers. :giggle:

No actually that vag cars usually are as I doubt my opinion will differ :)

Think I might have to book one. At this rate I'll be the only person not to have driven it come the weekend :D

Sent my request for a test drive in July. Happy to wait until the initial glut has subsided. :)

That'll be all the people booking test drives who have got absolutely no intention of buying one whatsoever :)

Mind you, I have done that and ended up buying a ruddy car :D

I'll be quite honest, I'm not expecting to buy one either. But I haven't intended to buy most of the cars I've ended up with :D

Just seen your post after writing mine, guess you have done the same as me eh! expensive bloody test drives :)

My dealer friend said the launch day today was very busy - with a line of punters there for their test drives.

Bit manic, so it will be better in the week, when I pop over.

Anyone go to their local Dealer Launch, what colour combo was yours.

How was the "Real live" audio exhaust note for you!?

Demo car was in Bradford JCT600 VW on Saturday.

Dark grey metallic with the white leather interior pack; which I didn't like at all.

Salesman started it up to give a demo on the exhaust note - but no test drives on the day.

Overall, if spec'd well - very nice motor..... but the test drive will seal the deal I'm sure.

Sounds are great in this advert, better than all that rally cars in a forest.

just right for old farts,

No matter if it is Tom or Engelbert.

There's a great deal currently on the latest 3 series: 335d X-drive M Sport (9+23) £250 + vat or £260 + vat for the Touring - granted it's on 8K miles/year, but even so, that's still a lot of diesel grunt for the money (faster & quicker even than a Golf R)!

Bargain if you do not drive very far annually.

More Grunt.  But needed to carry more weight not very far annually.

Not sure on faster actually, 70 mph will be the same speed in both. and the BMW is not that good at 30-80 mph.

so 18 more hp, with 313

196 kg heavier Kerb Weight than a Golf R Estate DSG.

BMW 1695 kg / VW 1499

Gross Weight BMW 2245 kg

Gross Weight VW  2080  kg

As much as I like the Golf, I know which one I'd prefer, especially as they're virtually identical on monthly cost.

Golf R: 300hp / 380 Nm

335d: 313hp / 630 Nm

Is that a phasing out of current 3 SERIES models ,hence the attractive deals?

Seen quite a few new 3 SERIES recently, nearby.

I seem to recall that BossFox was getting his RS3 test drive today.

I look forward to his review.

Will he or won't he go for the Very Powerful Hot hatch with a  DSG?
