Will be interesting to compare prices you get. At those prices I can't see me jumping at one. A high price to pay for an extra cylinder!

The reviews to date make it sound very average, and comparing it to the Golf R makes it very poor value. I'm fairly disapointed at this point :(

My thoughts are very similar to yours.

Are you planning a test drive anyway?

Think the R grows on you more daily.

I think if the R400 is produced in volume, that it will probably undercut the RS3.

Think I heard that TOPGEAR Mag has said that Audi are not planning a more powerful version.(400-500BHP.) God knows what price that would be..

  • Well I've finally collected my RS3.   So I thought I would share my initial thoughts and photos:-           Two RSs together:-   The car is really easy to drive as I was so nervous d

  • Not sure an M2 is ideal for the commute.  Or loading the family in. Also the 1 series can't have adaptive cruise, so not sure about the 2. Wanted something a bit more sensible as I have a quick week

  • Nah, leave him be, the 7R forums will eat him alive, at least here we know where he is and it beats care in the community

Definitely going to have a drive in one, you never know it might blow my socks off! But those numbers look too high anyway......

I'll reply to my own post!!!!

A guy on VWROC has been quoted the following-

RS3

Sepang Blue met £550

Matt black alloys £495

Comfort and sound pack £1,150

All in £42,190

The GFV's are as follows

3 years £25,500

4 years £23,500

APR 6.2%

Payments roughly

3years £560

4years £470

Deposit £4,000 (minimum typical 10%)

The basic way it is working out is for every £1000 in deposit reduce by £30pm or for every £1000 options add £30pm

All figures are rounded up or down just as a rough estimate for anybody interested.

Not bad figures those. The MGFVs are very strong. If it's 9-10k list more than a golf R then not such good value as a cash buyer but if effectively renting on a PCP it's definitely worth a look :-)

On the road, unlikely IMO.

You can't push it enough.

I agree. I reckon I've pushed the Golf R only a handful of times in the last 9 months. Doubt I would actually benefit from the extra perform of the RS3. I would be doing it for the sound :D

Seriously considering going for a luxo-barge next time :)

If you are, check out Jaguar XF Sportbrake prices on Broadspeed :)

Does anyone pay attention to mag reviews?? Being honest I never do, they all have an agenda.

I always test drive first and pick a car for me not my neighbour (badge snobbery comment earlier doesn't mean everyone that drives a merc/BM/Audi picked it due tho that)

Rs3 £450pm, £44500k list, 9k deposit

Too rich for me with no discount I'm over £160 less just now. Will hold off for test then deals

Been looking over the RS3 details for a while, as a mate at work has been very very tempted...

Just found out - he has indeed ordered..... est delivery July 2015.

Now helping him look into detailing options as alternative to the AG-Lifeshine pack offered.

Should I buy one?:

That leaves the jury technically still out, although it must be said that if you’re holding off on buying the model’s half sister, the Golf R, until you’ve heard the final verdict, I wouldn’t necessarily linger much longer.

Marginally slower and less characterful in the engine bay it may very well be, but the Volkswagen steers with more aplomb, levitates above the ground like a cruise missile, gets the standard manual gearbox the Audi doesn’t, and, crucially, doesn’t need the ESP turned off to show you a good time.

Location Rome; On sale Summer; Price £39,950; Engine 5 cyls, 2480cc, turbocharged,

You would have seen this had you read the detail I had already posted.

Similar Evo comment:Rivals

If you consider the main rival to the RS3 Sportback to be the A45 AMG it’s a compelling car. The engine is more naturally charismatic, the gearbox is faster, the chassis is much more alive to your inputs on the road and the interior is more sophisticated but still feels special. However, at £10,000 less it’s hard to ignore the Golf R… You might argue that it will appeal to very different people but the fact remains that dynamically the Golf is just the sweeter, more involving and more intense experience

Ignoring cost and owning more or less the same car as the R I'm still tempted by the RS. The extra power and noise is a big draw as I find the 4cyl just that but clinical

Time will tell

Why get an Audi RS3 when a Golf R will do the same but cheaper?...................well if you discount the manual option on the Golf & the sound of the extra cylinder then if you have the money why not?

It's your money, your car. Some people on here will slag me off for buying a Golf estate when a VRS Octavia would have been cheaper.............I don't give a flying f............. it was my money & certain looks, & spec combination I personally liked more than the MK3 Octavia.

However if you buy a big fancy car & drive like a numpy & get passed on a back road by a well driven MK1 Fabia 2lt (the Mustang slayer) don't come crying & whining to me.......... :p

Is the S3 or RS3 worth more than the Golf R?...................I'll tell you where some of that money went.............

  1. the Audi gets lightweight Alu/Alloy front subframe & front lower wishbones. The Golf R still has the same pressed & welded sheet steel versions as the base spec Golfs!
  2. The Audi has individual door controller modules in each door including the rears. The Golf does not, the rear doors (5dr) are piggybacked of the front door controllers...........

Details details.................. :nerd:

Not sure how many have ordered or looking to order on the RS3.....

BUT

Seemingly some of the Option pack pricing has been revised in the last week;

so it may be worth you re-checking on the configurator for the final price.

The Spec options i have selected went down by £600 on the new configurator
