I recently left the car standing for a couple of weeks while I was away and on my return did a VCDS scan. It appears that the battery voltage had dropped quite a bit.

Checking the part number on the top of the battery it appears that my car was shipped with an outdated battery, the number being superseded some 3 years before the car was built!

I'm wondering if any other 2012 vRS owners have noticed anything similar.

 

The part number listed as being correct on my car is 000 915 105DG.

 

Anyone have anything other than that?

 

I'm in to the dealer on Monday so looking forward to hearing their explanation...

Yup, had a look on ETKA, and the battery part number you have given (000 915 105 DG) was fitted to the 2.0 petrol from 1st June 2009. Any part number that preceded that suggests that your battery has been swapped by A.N.Other at some point before you took delivery.

 

Have a proper look at the battery -- is there a manufacturing date on it???

Battery dates are stamped on top of the terminals. Dealers need this date for any warranty claims.
