XDS activation on Octavia 3

Featured Replies

Hi all

Im investigating into the XDS feature in the MQB system.

I have a 4x4 5E and in my Erwin is stated that I have no XDS 1Y0 L DIF Ohne Differentialsperre

but we compare on different forum the systems and we think all 4x4 do have XDS. Can anyone explain this 1Y0 in my car?

we select a couple of ABS (03) to compare

https://www.dropbox.com/s/s3rlp478k1vmmim/Brake%2003.xlsx?dl=0

but we do not understand what byte is responsible for the XDS

We think the (no display) is the XDS setting for strong/medium....

you can see some of the different VCD version here http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?796-MkVII-Golf-XDS-Adaptation/page2

#18 is intresting

If anyone can help in this regards would be perfect

Cheers

one more info the Leon in my excel is with setting "strong" with a VCDS 12.12.0 there was XDS visible, from 12.12.x-14.10 it disapears but the "no display" appears instead.

So the Leon has strong setting active, and o wonder the " no Display" is now "medium" curios isn´t it?

Any comments ideas?

Olli

Olli, this subject sounds very intriguing.

So are you basically looking for somebody with VCDS 12.12.0 able to look at what settings are the standard for XDS on 4x4 version?

I have a 4x4 but sadly not (yet) bought the VCDS unit...

This fella has 12.12.3  Might be near enough spec to work????

Try here, I have done this on my Tig. http://www.mytiguan.com/index.php?/topic/9809-xds-abs-module-coding/?hl=xds

I have XDS

But that isn't a MQB platform so the controller and adaptations are different

thanks will take it in my list, question is, do you see XDS in VCDS in the adaptation as XDS option? Or do you also see only no display in VCDS adaption?

Olli

I see XDS settings in the adaptation channels using 14.10.0

Don't use any version 12.x.x of VCDS - there is very limited support for the latest controllers, and some of the communication protocols were tweaked for the MQB platform in the v14 beta before it became the major release.

I have seem problems on later MQB platform cars where v12.x.x has been used to make changes and the results haven't been quite as expected. Revert it all back to standard with v14 and try again using v14 and it works. Enough said.

There is no reason at all to be using v12.x.x unless it is a cheap chinese fake cable, and if it is don't expect much help from the majority of genuine VCDS owners on here.

I also use 14.10 but found one statement in the VCDS forum that there screenshot shows XDS visible in 12.12.0 but not any later version.

But in my case and many other there is no XDS adaptation only "no display" instead also in 14.10 :-(

So we think thedifferent brakemodules are the issue. Some have the APK active and others not and you can access only by longcoding.

So I was hoping in finding here a crack man who knows about the logic. Why is in my car XDS reported in Edwin as not avaialbe but all 4x4 should have it by default?

other example: you can change 2 bits to get HHC (hill hold) activ in my car, the APK was existing before also with inactiv lonngcoding. So the Lcode is improtant to be correct to set the HHC adaptation. I guess it is the same with XDS frist the Lcode must set than XDS will be adapt by APK.

Any thought, ideas?

Olli

Thanks for sharing!

can you send me a copy of your long coding of your ABS (03) as little thanks you :-) like Andyvee did above

You have also 4x4 do you have XDS active?

anyone else with 4x4 TDI 2.0 here to share his ABS (03)

printout for us?

good to know if the car has offically XDS implemented

Cheers

nobody here to share ABS longcodings,

we need from 1.6 and 1.8 L manual shift with Sport suspention the long codings, please share them please.

and to compare without sport suspention. Please feel free to share it

Cerumen

Seat Leon SE has XDS as standard on any engine size. Looking at a scan from one of those might help...

yes, my strategy is to compare 1:1 with and without because 29 Bytes have a lot of options, and due to the fact that nothing is explained in VCDS it is like the needle in the haystack.

So most efficiant would be same car with and without sport suspention

I collect them here https://www.dropbox.com/s/s3rlp478k1vmmim/Brake%2003.xlsx?dl=0

and we come the things closer

Was there any update on this?
Is XDS just software on the O3, or are there hardware changes as well?

Id be surprised if the ESP/ABS system on all O3's did not support XDS as this has been a capability of older VAG ESP systems for a while.

Id wager it could be coded but could likely be a pig to code....id personally wouldnt much fancy mucking about with the coding on the ESP/ABS modules in any case.

My personal experience of XDS is that its not all its cracked up to be.

The Fabia vRS I had with it deployed thos often and very obviously as it cut power until the car could gain traction...just slowed the thing down and did little to kerb torque steer....my last vRS had it and still span its wheels and torque steered during hard lots of throttle cornering....so Im not sold im afraid.

I certainly wouldn't want to be the first person to try an XDS activation, but once it's an established change it would be different

Neither would I. There are certain modules you don't mess about with, anything safety related I personally steer clear of.

anynews on enabling XDS

  • 1 month later...

Today I managed to change my XDS setting from 'Standard' to 'Strong'. :)

Mine is a MY14 Elegance with '5Q0 907 379 R' ABS controller.

The adaptation channel is called 'No display' in current version of VCDS.

I made some tests on wet road with full throttle while cornering and I think I can feel the difference. :)

I did not notice any change with normal driving though.

More testing will follow...
