Wheel Jack

Featured Replies

I'm preparing to take delivery of my new Superb (SE 2.0 TDi CR), but as is the norm, there is no spare wheel. I've never liked this idea as a can of foam won't help when you have a blowout!

I have the chance of a spare wheel (which i know is the same PCD and offset) and kit from a 2011 Octavia 2.0TDI CR L&K Estate and was wondering if anyone can advise whether the jack from this is suitable for the Superb's weight?

TIA!

The load rating on the tyres for the Superb is higher than for the Octavia (92 minimum, though most have 94, 18" wheels seem to be only available in the 92 rating. The Octavia takes 91). Going from 91 to 92, is from 615 to 630 kg and 94 is 670 kg, so not a lot of difference. The max lifting capacity of the jack should be written on it and if if's over 670 kg you should be fine.

As above, I have both an Octavia and Superb on the drive, the jacks are the same.

Thnaks guys, that answers my query!

I've bought 2 new estates in the last year and on both occasions i was told it had no spare however when i looked both cars had a full size spare which surprised me and the dealers

Picked mine up Friday and sadly they were correct!   And the Octavia spare wheel I was going to acquire is only a 15" and doesn't fit over the front brakes.

I bought a brand new steel wheel from ebay for £50 and a tyre for £50.

Answered a question I was going to ask....looking for a 'jack/tool' set for my Superb off fleabay or from a breakers and there are more Octys out there than Superbs around here.

Thank you!

I'm sure i was told last year that VAG were going back to having a spare being "the standard" and the puncture kit would become "the option". Probably due to all the bad press the inflation kits have been getting over the last couple of years.

I managed to get my spare and toolkit that was basically brand new, (Had been used once for around 20 miles), off ebay for just under £100 including the fuel down to Bedford and back. Compared to the £140 approx cost from the local dealers which included a small "Briskoda discount"
