Bulb failure light

Featured Replies

A useful feature you might say but SO annoying. I have according to the maxidot a failed R/H  front fog light. I can't remember when I last used the front foglight and cannot easily make the time to fix it or get someone else to fix it. It is glaring away at me and won't stop. The point is it has told me and I know, enough already.....

Are yours not 'cornering fogs' ?  If so they are in use every time you have your lights on and turn a corner or select reverse gear.

I don't think I've ever switched mine on as 'fogs', but did have the warning light on to replace one a few months ago (and took the opportunity to replace both with brighter, whiter bulbs)

My warning light came on yesterday, 'check front right fog light' on the maxi dot. Ordered a couple Philips vision H7 for 9.99 deliver on fleebay.

That reminds me of people who've got smoke alarms fitted in their house, but because of a low voltage battery, remove it to stop the beeping!

The odd thing is that once you've changed the bulb, it won't keep annoying you. ;)

Am I missing something here?

It's good that it is annoying, the idea being you change the bulb.

Now I'm beginning to understand why I see Skoda's driving around with blown dipped headlights and brake lights, they are too busy getting annoyed about a small orange light on the dash and forget how annoying their laziness is for other road users.

I work every day and by the time I get home (and before leaving) it is too dark and wet to change a bulb which neither I nor anyone else benefits from. The first thing I did when it lit up was to check all the lights Head, side, rear, brake and indicators. When do those who criticise suggest I get to change it? It isn't laziness as has been suggested-if it were safety critical I would have to do it or get it done before proceeding further. So you are" missing something" here.

I work 6 days a week, leave the house at 6:30am arrive back at 18:45, if I have to I'll rush out in my lunch break. That doesn't stop me keeping a legal and maintained car,

Brothers brothers lol.... it's a 2 minute job. Cover off connector off and the bulb is a weird push fit.

It takes 5 minutes to change it!!

The answer is in your hands, change it or put up with the light on the dash!!

Until now I had never realised how wrong I could be.

Not wrong, JCP - just with other priorities!

If I was nearer I'd pop down and sort it for you - in the meantime, a bit of gaffa tape over the warning light? :)

It only came on on monday and it will be done within a week. It is a Foglight and I don't expect to use it -on past form- for a year or two, that is why the light is over the top=but i have admitted i'm wrong so why not back off?

JCP. It's just not good enough. You've been on this forum long enough to know the rules - never let your guard down and post something without thinking it all the way through!! It's no good complaining now that your transgression has been made public I'm afraid. Just be glad it is only a fog light bulb. If it had been a juddering wiper blade the minimum sentence is the Yeti being impounded and penance shown by driving the Fiat 126 until you've learnt the error of your ways. (The Fiat is parked just behind the empty kegs in Bob's Corner).

Now you know what you've got to do tomorrow - forgo lunch and spend the time and money on buying and fitting a new bulb.

(On the positive side, it's probably not something you need to bring up at confession on Sunday, unless you really want to).

Look at it another way.

If the warning light only appeared briefly or you were able to clear it yourself then there is a good chance you'd also forget to change the bulb?

I'm sure you can cope with a small on-dash warning for a few days.

Let's face it a front fog light isn't as critical as a headlight or brake light but given the time you've spent on this thread I'm sure you've now ordered a replacement on line.

5 minutes under the bonnet tomorrow lunchtime or after work with a torch and all will be sorted and this thread can join the blown bulb [emoji3]

JCP could of course lock the thread as he's now been given enough information to resolve his dilemma! ;)

He loves it.

I feel the thread has filled him with motivation that he wouldn't of otherwise had. ;) haha

Beggar!!

Just got back from the chippy and now my OSF fog light bulbs blown!!

Little job for tomorrow if the wind stops.

Sure I've got a few H7 bulbs in the shed.

:D I've got 3 sets of H4,  3sets of H7 in the shed all from upgrading the headlight bulbs,  :wait: also 1 set of H7 nightbreakers.  Should keep me going for a while

I'm sure I took the H7 Osrams out of my old Freelander when it was sold, but there is no way I'm going out to the shed at the moment.

If I opened the door I think I'd become a kite!!

I don't blame you it was 68mph at Lake Vyrnwy

Sent from my Galaxy S5

How the heck does the bulb come out?

I've tried all ways this morning, (but probably not helped by the lack of grip in my right hand!!)

And the only H7 bulb I had in the shed doesn't work!!

Changed both this morning, pretty awkward, I found by pushing them down and giving them a slight wiggle they popped out of there sprung holder and came out. They are far more difficult to get back in, probably because I never noted the position of the bulb base when removing the original.

By "pushing down" do you mean pushing into the lamp or physically down towards the bottom of the light?
