Briskoda How Fast 2015 Bedford 02/05/2015

Featured Replies

Got home at lunchtime today so the Brisk Rover is all ready to go, apart from a dramatic current lack of fuel juice :D

Got the new ZR front subframe on, which gives more clearance around the exhaust manifold, track tyres dug out the shed and pumped up, checked the usual bits around the engine and I even gave it a rinse with the hose pipe :o

  • Some photos from today.   Not many action shots as Bedford does have any public trackside access and my camera isn't really up to modern day standards.   All shots therefore from pit lane, most ar

  • Unlikely, I'm quite slow apparently. I just do well because I have a flash car.

Nice parking. :D

stops the sods swinging around outside our house!  nobody ever turns left as it is a dead end.

How do I book/get in? Thurleigh is only 20 minutes or so away from me.

Head for "Thurleigh Airfield & Business Park" and tell the guy at the entrance that you're here for the "Howfast" event, he'll point you in the right direction.

Bedford Autodrome isn't really set up for spectators but as long as you attend the briefing, so that you know the safety rules, they will let you spectate from the pit lane (well they let me last year).

I've now got my space available :( my wishbone bush decided to not want to be part of the wishbone anymore, pm me if anyone wants my spot I'd rather it not go to waste first pm gets it, give me your email address and I'll forward my confirmation email

You have a pm

See you guys tomorrow :)

Really looking forward to my first ever go on a track.

Even gave the Yeti it's second wash of the year. Rear seats, kids seats and other detritus removed, so riding even higher than normal at the back now!

Will be heading down from Derbyshire on M1 for a while, wave/flash if you see me, white Yeti!

On a separate note, can't find the paper bit of my license anywhere. Hope they'll let me in with just the photo bit...

Given they are scrapping paper license in a few weeks, I doubt they will be bothered. :)

Has anyone got the times from last time? I forgot to bring the list ...

Times don't matter, with new track limits rules and extra cones on chicanes they won't be compatible to tomorrow's times.

Hence they are restarting the list they keep.

But here they are anyway...

Hope the weathers better down there than it is here for you lot.

I think the bulk of England has got it good.  They should be posting the "quick times" about now. :D

So who you reckon is gonna be in the top 3?

So who you reckon is gonna be in the top 3?

I fancy Richard's Yeti is in with a fair shout

I am thinking it might be

1) Yeti (well certain of that)

2) james Golf

3) Dave&Lolli's octy

What about this new unknown contender with the focus ST?

Looks like a wildcard choice.

Think he may be in contention for the top 3.

I am ignoring any "outsiders"  :P

You not backing your replacement? Lol

When I got home and scanned the Golf  -  Of the 19 VCDS scan areas I recorded 16 Malfunctions after a massive hiss fit during familiarization session.

Luckily after a rest the car recovered enough to do the timed laps.

Having got home and cleared all the fault codes everything seems to working fine so have no idea what went wrong

Had great fun today understeering the Yeti round the track :D

Did anyone get a copy of the times ?

I never got to see the times at the end, and their printer was broken. I fully expect to be last, but would like to know my time :)

Some initial results taken from facebook - and someone's memory

1st Mr Fox yeti ttrs 1:24.***  (this is just silly! :D_
2nd young lad focus st/rs 1:28.*** (my replacement)
3rd me in the Beast 1:31.171  (as I guessed)

4th Poitr(jabozuma) 1:31.299  (interesting!)
5th Jamie golf 2.8 4motion turbo 1:31.6* (Had Jamie down for 2nd)

Yes, I did a 1:24.3 second hot lap.

Today was really good fun. I think I did 1.36 last time and 1.32 today so I'm happy with that!

I hope The JPS Octy recovers. It was being towed away last I saw of it!

Had a great day, my laps were a bit poor, I tried too hard and failed ! Lol ... Enjoyed the ride in the mad yeti, and the golf :) shame I didn't get time to go in the brisk rover, but ash did! Had to remind my self to drive my own car and not spend all the time as a passenger! Lol

My car ran well and reliably, but felt way more oversteery than last time, looking at the tyre wear , I think the 20mm spacers on the back are too much! May have to have a rethink!

Great day though, and looking forward to a whole day at the national meet on track

Last note for the focus, loved the flaming exhaust! :)

Had fun times. Brisk Rover didn't catch fire and it's still got some brake pads left. Good result me thinks. It's also still got some fuel after driving to Bedford, thrashing the nuts off it and then doing a further 150 mile round trip to go and pick up some wheels on the way home. Just sorting videos :D
