Flicking through all the banter that precedes this post I decided I had best check the car over today, with all the talk of racing drivers and who is the fastest I wouldn't want to be caught napping.

 

 So, I washed the Golf and put some air in the tyres, also tightened up the turbo and waste gate bolts again, for whatever reason they undo themselves which is rather inconvenient.

 

 

 

 

 Once all the battling is done I suggest we go for a bit of food afterwards, looking for pubs now near the circuit  but they are all quite away to go, anybody got any ideas?

I have to take off right away sadly.  Rolling road day in Stockport.

James have you thought about putting some loctite 243 on all of those screws?

I need a favour from a couple of people on the day.  Once I have done my "quick laps" I need a formula one style pit crew 4 wheel change, and I need to be out of there.

 

Depending on timing, I suppose there is time as I am probably going to be one of the first to do times, unless they run in reverse order based on practice timings.

Just received confirmation of booking and payment but no actual details of the itinerary - when to arrive, signing on, briefing etc - and can not find info on their site. Do we turn up at 10am or is that when the session starts

That all depends how quick the tyre change is going to be. You reckon The Crew will be able to dip below 3 secs?

Get straight up the M1 as far as Donington and then nip across the A50, much better route than sitting on the M6 at Birmingham

If you want a hand changing wheels just shout knowing you, you'll have done your quick laps be back and off before us slow lot have even started our "hot laps"

 

The Fabia is a little broken after Combe, if I don't get fixed in time I don't suppose there will be any issues turning up in the Clio? Apart from the fact a disgusting french thing is around?

I presume helmets are a requirement, if so, do they hire them out at the venue ?

Helmet is a big yes!

 

 tyre pressures depend on you really, I know a few who go who check the pressures during the session, personally I start at about 30 psi and when they get hot it goes up a bit, that is it, no messing about.

 

 Just get out there and drive it to the best of your ability, treat it like a "B" and be safe in the knowledge nothing will be coming the other way!  

I've used a full face helmet each time I've been previously, but felt very claustrophobic

 

So I bought one of these for £27 (best offer) so that I can look like BossFox If only I could drive like him
