  • And I've gone right off the RS3 idea. £40k plus for a car that#'s slower than my Yeti and has an automatic box...

  • I'd have one in a heartbeat if I had the money

  • Be it 'chav' or not. This and it's 400 ponies bring a smile to my face. The more I've seen of the mk3 the more I've come around to it. Purely for its driving characteristics. My local ford don't

Ironic Ford blaming their official tuner Mountune for causing £8,500 of engine damage after it had the earlier recall upgraded head gasket. Mountune blaming Ford for producing inferior engine parts, customer left in the lurch. It only had an extra 50bhp when my Octavia has done 11,000 miles with an extra 94bhp.:tongueout:

Well, AIUI Ford will warranty Mountune remapped engines, so they've accepted that the maps are good.

Personal account - A mate of mine had a standard Opel Manta 1.8 that put a rod through the block at 4_000rpm and similar miles, so "black swan" components do happen.

3 decades back was so last century.

Actually, things move on or improve so slowly.

We've had 5 VAG cars remapped (all stage 1 only, all 2.0 TFSI or TSi, circa 45-55 bhp improvement, never any problems.) Still own my Superb 2.0 TSI, mapped in April 2013, so circa 28K miles with a map, still fun to drive & circa 37 mpg. Never bothered to get our Golf R's mapped, 300 ps is enough for us oldies.......

He must be barking mad. £23,500 for a nine year old Focus with rusty rear wheel arches and cheap tyres.

On his second engine like many Mk3 Focus RS owners. Fortunately the £8,500 Bill was paid for under warranty by Ford.

The reviewer explains the engine mods costs a bonkers £15,000 then it will spin if you fllor it in 2nd on a corner exit and spin all four tyres in 4th gear. A well developed product then. He sums it up nicely in one word "SILLY".

I like them especially in Blue.

I am currently looking for a Second Car to have a Toy for occasional use and a bit of Fun and these fall into my Price Range, I think I would rather go for the Civic Type R FK2 though.
