Autocar uncover Focus RS mk3 replacement 2019/20

This week's big news - we've got the inside line on the Ford Focus RS - it's going hybrid, with 400bhp and 425lb ft. Read the full story in this week's magazine.

Guess this is a repeat released, in the week of the announcement of the New Ford Focus on the 10th April 2018/19/20

  • And I've gone right off the RS3 idea. £40k plus for a car that#'s slower than my Yeti and has an automatic box...

  • I'd have one in a heartbeat if I had the money

  • Be it 'chav' or not. This and it's 400 ponies bring a smile to my face. The more I've seen of the mk3 the more I've come around to it. Purely for its driving characteristics. My local ford don't

Not the best of Recall experiences for this young RS mk3 owner.

I am possibly away to look at the Focus RS heritage edition tomorrow at a dealer in Edinburgh, so if i do I will try and get some pics.

had a passenger ride in one today, it's very focused (no pun intended). Sounds awesome and pops nicely on the over run, doesn't feel that quick from low revs, but really picks up further around the rev gauge. I'd say it's slower than my M135i in a straight line, but would be quicker on the twisties. Overall pretty impressed

Well I took a trip to have a look at the heritage edition.

£45k for one, I compared this to a nitro blue model with same options and you are defo paying for the paint on this, also the wing mirrors are really nasty Matt plastic. If I was paying this sort of cash I would have either a Mustang or a RS3.

I remember going to the launch of this car back in 2015 I think and left thinking Ford could have done better, looks wise but I can bet it drives like nothing else.

Seeing that orange Focus reminds me of the day i went to Cordiners garage in Banff and a brand New Escort Mexico was sitting there.

Loved the colour then and still now.

That takes me back to when I was a teenager and had one in the same colour. :handshake:

I love old Fords in any colour, but Orange does it for me.

George,

People of a certain age.

Proper RAC Rally era - those were the days. RS2000.

I remember my older brother restoring a Ford Zephur with column change, a white and red combo I seem to recall.

Ford UK and Globally appear to be performing very badly regarding FSA (RECALL)

Interesting experience outside UK .

Perhaps we are lucky in the UK?

Must admit the looks of the current RS and Type R's are too boy racer, I need a Q Car; hate standing out for the wrong reasons.

So if new RS is more stock looking, they may sell more.

Plus getting the R &D ,Engineering and Production Processes sorted .

These Specialist Dealers and Ford rip off the genuine punter who wants a LE model.

Says it all.

WTF

I would have a mustang over a RS any day!

I've had a mk3 Focus RS for about two years now.

And that's exactly it, the punch is decent, but it's heavy so rolling performance isn't ground breaking.  Am M135i will pull away from 70mph upwards.  But off the line and round the corners the RS is better.

I don't regret getting mine one bit.

5 doors for the family

Decent power

Fun handling and easy to slide

Good residuals

Great multi purpose car.

It just feels so right.

Boss,

Really glad that you and the family have enjoyed your Focus RS mk3 experiences, over the last couple of years.

Have you still go the two RSs , or are you now about to get the  the Heritage Edition to cap it off ,as the collectors model for your garage.

All the best

I sold my daily beater and have kept the 17 on 2,200 miles.

Heritage edition is a long story.

I was told I should get one if I wanted it, but then didn't.  MD of the group decided to keep both.

But having seen one I'm not that worried, it's just a colour change and no special engineering.

I have a regular blue because I like the colour coded brakes and interior trim.  Didn't even get a blue edition car as I don't like the unpainted black plastic spoiler on that.

I'm more focused on my jap stuff now.  But the RS will stay a long time because IMO it's one of the best road cars out there.

Shame it was so over hyped when it was launched though.

But what a performance bargain it was at launch.  Around £30k two years ago and a top spec new Fiesta ST is now £25k!!!
