mirrorlink

In the end I thought it was time to fix this issue by buying one of the compatible phones and give it a try to get it over with.

It has been a funny few days, with ups and downs, but I guess/hope I only need to take the last hurdle to make it work.

So what is the situation?

  • I bought a HTC One Mini 2 (Android 4.4.2)
It has Mirrorlink support through the pre-installed HTC Car application who is listed on the bolero system

Does anyone know the version of Mirrorlink the bolero unit supports at the moment?

  • The connection works and when not driving I managed to use google maps, see pictures, see a movie and listen to my music on the phone
  • Sometimes the connection can not be made (timeout), but restarting the bolero unit will restart the mirrorlink connection to solve it
  • I bought Sygic Car navigation Premium version and it works when launched through the HTC Car application

The problem is that when I start driving the application stops working: "Application unavailable", so I guess I have a certificate problem.

I re-installed sygic full version with activation key, but without any result.

This issue is described here http://help.sygic.com/hc/en-us/articles/206751537-Troubleshooting

I contacted Sygic for help, but would like to ask around if someone had this issue.

Sygic is not listed as a compatible Mirrolink application on the Bolero... and none of the other applications as well from google play.

Someone has a working app I can install?

  • You know what... You're right Ollie. The Fabia is a fantastic car nevertheless and I'm going to put this aggression/frustration aside and look forward to it! My car is being built as we speak! Yes I'

Just bought a Samsung S5 in the hope that it would work with Bolero/ Mirrorlink. The phone is recognised but every time I try to connect it goes through the process but after a few seconds  a message appears saying the connection has been cancelled. Up to now the supplying dealer has had the same result when trying to connect this phone to bolero mirrorlink. The dealer is now going to have the car for a day with the  intention of carrying out full technical checks. I think that this is probably "Clutching at straws".  Has any one managed to get a Samsung S5 to work with the pree week 22 Bolero.

Car has now been into the Skoda dealership. Tests carried out and they were unable to complete a connection with Samsung S5 to Mirrorlink. Apparently they managed to connect an HTC 1 but I did not see this, (A few weeks ago they could not connect the HTC 1).   Am now advised that my Bolero headset is working correctly, just that it will not operate with the Samsung S5 although this phone is mirrorlink 1.1 compatible.  The only advice they were able to offer was that I should contact customer services...lol.  I have tried to go again into the Skoda page that lists compatible devices for my VIN and I now find that the page will not load on my computer. I am now sick to death of the whole issue and Skodas  ineffectual handling of the situation.

I have now given up with the xperia z3 compact (supposedly one of the two phones that work) as the connection was so unreliable and have raised a case with customer services.

They made me quietly laugh when they asked 'what would my expectations of an outcome be?' to which I said hmmm swap the car for a new one? ok he said I'll put that down.

Got a reply from Sygic that the HTC One Mini 2 is not Mirrorlink 1.1 compatible (it has an old HTCMirrorlink application version), so i'm returning the phone and cancelled the Sygic Car Navigation, full refund.

At least this gives me the opportunity to test.

I'll now buy an HTC One M9 as this one should be compatible as stated on the Mirrorlink website and Skoda website.

I keep you guys updated.

Htc one m9 works on my fabia no problems so far and so does sygic.just not many apps that work with it ,but thats down to skoda.

Which other app than sygic can you make it work ?

The app from Skoda that are listed in mirrorlink list are no longer working since they need smartgate.

Hi other apps are weather pro parkopedia aupeo! Audioteka Car they are only ones that work in my car and phone while moving. Hope that helps.[emoji4]

Double post sorry mods please delete

As I mentioned - you connect it between head and main Bolero units. Like with Garmin or Pioneer units, you switch to Android by keep pressing MEDIA button. Imagine Bolero behaves then like a smartphone. Internet connection can be made either over WiFi (shared from your phone or additional router) or with built-in 3G module (no LTE).

Hey Pab567,

Any chance you can put in a link here or in a private message with what unit you bought and from where?

Might be interested in this..  Would the install of this system be difficult? Do you need to go to a garage/dealer? ..ooo.. and my Fabia is on finance, if I want to give it back and get a new one ..i would have to put the old unit back , correct?

Let me now :)

cheers

I will give you full update when I install my unit next week.

Got my htc m9 and sygic but still won't work when moving, any suggestions? I've paid for the Europe maps.

Well I also just received my HTC One M9 this morning and performed some tests.

I can confirm all the following applications show up as compatible and work (if you at least create accounts and buy premium versions for some of them)

  • weather pro
  • parkopedia
  • aupeo!
  • Audioteka
  • Car
  • Sygic Car navigation (also when driving)

I'm happy it works this time.

It took me to buy a very expensive phone to make Mirrorlink work, but at least I can now enjoy the car with a GPS.

c8802c9c9c17d67e0d6acce046587217.jpg This is the premium (£69)version that I have on my m9 that works fine. Note that is the same picture that is the fabia brochure dated jan15 . All I can say is that it works fine in my car b/week 20 and m9 is running latest software. Hope this helps and good luck.

Finally after soooo many phone calls etc I've got mirrorlink. I managed to get skoda uk and dealer to foot the bill for me to upgrade phone to htc m9. Takes a bit of getting used to and nowhere near as good as old system. Don't think I can listen to radio while sat nav is running. All this grief and it's not that great. Weird set up on screen, not sure if it needs tweaking but narrow strip up middle of screen is not great. My phone screen is bigger!

Blimey! you couldn't make this up. I'm going for the MIB....fingers crossed

The file is to big to upload Grajolee if your interested pm your email and I will send it that way. Cheers mick

here's a screen shot taken of the video showing full screen.06ee27bb69c70639684a6b74eb5260ab.jpg
