mirrorlink

As far as we understand it - yes. You should get Smartlink and everything will work.

But nobody has actually taken delivery of one yet to truly confirm that!

Cheers.

I guess it shouldn't be too long now for the first post week 22 cars to be delivered and for a definitive answer to be had.

Did someone say catch 22 between mirrorlink and Skoda?

Build week 22.

Ironic?

I too ordered the new Fabia 1.2 90 SEL Estate 4weeks back. At the time I was disappointed that there was no Sat Nav option but liked the idea of linking a phone to the screen. Then I came across this forum!! Last week I tried to add the Amundsen to my order but it could not be done as the order had entered planning stage. As I don't currently have a smartphone I'm willing to get one but need a guaranteed working solution. I would have favoured an iPhone but tried Apple maps out on my iPad with a couple of familiar routes and it came up with some bizarre directions. I can see my trusty old Garmin being pressed into further service which is a shame. However I await with anticipation reports of anyone getting a working Sat Nav on the Fabia III via either Mirrorlink or Smartlink.

Skoda is going to look really sick if it does not work. I would like that having a pre week 22 car Joe you can tell I am not bitter

Had an idea about letting the boy computer wizard looking into this very serious theme but realised that I couldnt care less.

The phone is displayed right in front of me on the maxidot screen, the radio displayed in the biig bolero screen and the gps is attached to the windscreen where I dont have to move my view (much) from the lane to the gps as I would for the stupid and dangerous placed screen low and middle in the dash. I had the same experience with the now gone Merc, which had a working (but often false) gps at the same place. The TomTom Urban Rider never let me down.

Id probably be more concerned if that screen was placed within my driving field of view!

Hi Pfaff in the words of the immortal William Shakespeare who, when asked about mirror link, said "sod mirror link I am going to enjoy my new car" If its good enough for him it's good enough for me Joe

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi,

Got my Fabia last week, it got mirrolink in it but no smartlimk, how can i check my build week?

Just tried my current Moto G running Lollipop on Mirrorlink with no joy and also tried my old Motorola RAZR running KitKat which was on the Mirrorlink compatibility list but this doesn't work either, no surprise there then.

TBH, I'm not that bothered about it as Bluetooth streaming and USB work brilliantly with the surround sound, just have to dig my old TomTom out and update it.

If a fix ever becomes available then I'll push for it so keep up the good work guys.

Just bought a Samsung S5 in the hope that it would work with Bolero/ Mirrorlink. The phone is recognised but every time I try to connect it goes through the process but after a few seconds  a message appears saying the connection has been cancelled. Up to now the supplying dealer has had the same result when trying to connect this phone to bolero mirrorlink. The dealer is now going to have the car for a day with the  intention of carrying out full technical checks. I think that this is probably "Clutching at straws".  Has any one managed to get a Samsung S5 to work with the pree week 22 Bolero.

Skoda customer services have told me that the Samsung Galaxy s5 with Android 5.0 is compatible with Bolero Mirrorlink. The car is going in to Skoda on 22 June for in depth investigation regarding this problem. I am not confident that the outcome will be satisfactory. Will update in due course.

I have a week 27 built car and all it has is Mirror links so my Iphone 5 is not compatible.

I love the car however cannot face using another Sat Nav on the window or fixing my phone to the dashboard therefore  a phone change and sygic may be the only option!

Hello there

I'm from Belgium. I have a SKODA FABIA with Bolero but this does not work with my Samsung S5. I've contacted SKODA BElgium and my dealer. THe only answer i got was : if you check on the Skoda Compatibilty List, your smartphone is not compatible. Wow great thank you for the help... but i'm with Lollipop which is compatible Mirrorlink 1.1. And i can tell you that i'm not the only one.

I have just sent a complaint to the BBC TV program "Watch Dog". If enough Fabia owners with the same problem also contact them they may investigate.

Yo,

Same situation here in Belgium, get a HTC One M8 with Android 4.4, it's the only one working.

It's the one shown in the Skoda demo video's on youtube.

I cancelled my S5 order because of this.

PS: Did you got any feedback from Skoda Import Belgium? By phone or my email? Who is your contact person? I'll contact them. Maybe we can file a complaint together.

You can't have one android phone work and not another. That's just BS. Android is android.

Waouw, I got an answer from SKODA... da da  " have you removed the battery from your phone and process has a factory default setting of your phone? "

I found someone who was able to establish a connection between S5 and Bolero but he has to downgrade is phone and perfom several experiments. However he can't tell me why this works now and not before. This is completly unstable.

To be more precise, when i try to connect, my connection turns in loop. But finaly i can't make it work.

For SKODA this is my phone which have a problem. So I contacted SAMSUNG... i'm waiting for their response.

Still think it's a bolero issue and they know it.

It's easier to blame the phone then to solve the issue in a sold product.

Who is your Skoda dealer in Belgium? You can PM me if you do not want to disclose this information.

In the Bolero hand book at the bottom of page 4 in the Declaration of Conformity it states Skoda Auto a.s herby declares that the "connection and use of this communication device is granted by the Nigerian Communications Commission" this is for information only, I could not possibly comment on this organisation Joe

Apparently, Sygic must be the FULL VERSION, and must be plugged into the USB port with a data cable. It will not Bluetooth.

Then it is meant to work, although I don't know of anyone who has it working as yet!

I have a Xperia Z3 compact DS5803 with android 4.4.4 (not updated to lollipop yet)

I have installed the sygic car nagivation app and i'm with the 7 day trial.

I tried the app this morning to go to work (about 15km for 30-45 minutes or travel)

in this time the mirrorlink connection dropped or crashed like 3-4 times (i don't really remember the message displayed)

while driving i didn't tried to unplug and plug again the phone since my car is new and i was alone in the car !

But it was impossible in the first 5 minutes when the mirrorlink connection dropped to reconnect... i tried to :

  • select and unselect my phone in the usb listing
  • go on the menu board and select Mirrorlink.

each time the connection send me an error.

Next time it pops up again i will try to restart the infotainment system see if it fix the issue.

But not be able to see the gps data when the connection drop is very annoying if we have to rely on it to not choose the wrong direction in this timeline !

i will do a complain to skoda France in order to get a solution for this bug and push to get smartlink in the car as well.

The 7 day trial version will not work when you are moving.

Which begs the question.........what's the point!?

It must be the full paid for version, just so you can be ripped off to the maximum.

I should have in 2-3 weeks Android module that you connect between head and main Bolero units at a price lower than extra charge for Amundsen. Having it, you don't need Mirrorlink nor Android Auto anymore - you operate it from Bolero touch screen and can install any app from the store :)

Do you know how it will be integrated into the infotainment system ?

If it's not android auto it will be like having a android smartphone directly displayed on the Boler unit ? But for the data ? how it will connect to internet ?

what ?

When i tried it on the road the gps  worked flawlessly. the sygic app wasn't the issue by the way. it's the mirrorlink connectivity that is unstable because i did some other tests and the connection dropped even if i'm on the main menu of mirrorlink...

I tried my mother smartphone that is a Z3 compact with lollipop on it (5.0.2) and the phone didn't have any dropped connection. i will update mine and do some other tests.

I will keep you posted.

As I mentioned - you connect it between head and main Bolero units. Like with Garmin or Pioneer units, you switch to Android by keep pressing MEDIA button. Imagine Bolero behaves then like a smartphone. Internet connection can be made either over WiFi (shared from your phone or additional router) or with built-in 3G module (no LTE).

All right ! i didn't see or remember your previous post.

Here is an update about mirrorlink and my smartphone.

Now by upgrading to lollipop 5.0.2 my Z3 compact all the dropped connection with mirrorlink are now resolved. but i think they like to make things  complicated for us.

Now when my car motor is running the mirrorlink interface freeze in the sygic app and doesn't refresh the screen. (the touchscreen capability is ok since on the phone i can see the movement i do on the Bolero unit)

But if my car motor is not running. only the power online in the car the freeze are gone !

I will try to do an update on the Bolero unit to see if i have an update to do and if it will solve the issue.

But for now the mirrorlink capability is not worse (yay mirrorlink stay connected !) but not better. (Booo the screen wont refresh :'( )

I wonder when they will make it work properly... (wait, never since they focus on smartlink ! )
