Kenwood DNX 521 DAB

Featured Replies

Has anyone had this unit fitted to their Oct if so is it any good.

Was told by the Skoda technician this is the better unit than the Columbus, and its cheaper to.

I have the new Octavia elegance 1.4 TSI 140 BHP with the Canton speakers picked up last week. the unit thats in at the moment is the Amundsen.

Without serious rewiring this wont be compatible with the O3.

The brains of the infotainment sits in the glovebox...the screen is just a touchscreen....there is a double DIN gap behind it but all the key wiring goes to the glovebox.

To do this you'd end up losing the Canton sounds too as this is all fibre optic/CANbus controlled.

The unit in truth is designed with the Mk2 in mind (and other VAG vehicles with the older style Swing/Bolero/Amundsen and Columbus infotainment).

I think the screen on the octy is fairly flat too, as said the unit itself is in the glovebox

I have the kenwood in my van, and it is a full double din unit (about 8" deep I think) I don't think there is room in the dash for it to go into without moving stuff

It's in the Skoda Accessories brochure... but doesn't list it as compatible with the Octavia (this is me agreeing with you, just in case you didn't realise - I know it doesn't happen often on t'interwebs!).

:-)

It's a good unit, and in that picture it looks like a similar dash to my van (but posher)

But it doesn't have free maps, and you have to register it with garmin to get traffic info

Can't be that good a Skoda technician if he is recommending a HU for the Octy2 to go in the Octy3
