Hey im new and need ideas

Featured Replies

do you have anything positive to say? all seems to be spaff if you ask me?

Yes.

You won't be happy with those shocks and springs, they won't improve the handling and certainly not the ride. In this case the truth is negative, a positive outcome would be saving a little longer and fitting an AP coilover kit.

There are literally dozens of guys on here with first-hand experience who will tell you that they bought cheap coilies and regretted it ever after, then there are a handful with no experience who want you to make the same mistake they did so they feel validated.

'spaff' indeed!

  • ive seen your thread jonezy looks pretty nice and congratulations on the expectancy    is there any tint or 'fly eye' i can do on my back lights?

  • i agree with jonezy car cost me £500 in the end i aint really bothered what i get out of it if i sell it but right now im not looking at selling i want to keep using it with some modification

Got to admit I hated my Joms on my PD130 Ibiza, atrocious ride and crashy. Looked good low mind you but that's about it. I've heard loads rave about AP's so would go for them personally, but each to their own and it is what you can afford at the time. If I were you I'd go springs and shocks, if you want it to look a little better and handle a bit better but it is only an MPI so isn't going to be a race car in the handling or speed department.

IMO you'd be better personalising it a little to make it your own with spending as little as possible on it, whatever you spend you will most likely not see again. Then by saving all the money you would have spent on it and then get something better you like which is that bit faster. Add up all the bushes, roll bars, strut braces, brakes and whatever else has crossed your mind and you'd have a small fortune. With that you can then move up to a Fabia VRS which has considerably more poke. The majority have had some sort of modification to make it faster and handle better already spent on it so you won't have to. Or something else that takes your fancy.

With all my mods and literally buying the car and maintenance it's cost me £1000 over 3 years which is naff all :)

after 3 weeks of sitting in fields wwith work and no phone signal then spending an evening getting rat arsed and talking cars (with the girlfriend)

coilovers are finally ordered are there any specific tools i need whilst doing the swap? or anything i should know?

Agree with Skoda_Saint, spend as little as possible and save for a vRS. You can pick them up for a very reasonable price these days.

You could look for a skoda gt bumper spoiler. Quite rare now, but looks great :)

Have you had quotes from the insurance company regarding the mods? It may work out cheaper to insure a standard Vrs than a modified mpi.

i have and for coilovers and a vrs bumper set insurance goes up from £980 to £1100 so not too bad but a mk1 vrs fabia is £1650 ish cos i have 3 points on my license

That's not so bad then. At least your doing it properly :) the gt bumper is a genuine skoda accessory which goes over the standard bumper. Instead of completely replacing it :)

is the gt bumper just the lower lip?

Kind of, you remove the black strip on the current bumper and it bonds in place there.

views on banded steels?

I know a guy selling some? :D

views on banded steels?

I like 'em, they're lightweight and understated.

I like banded steelies, think they give a proper aggressive look

bought a set that need a bloody good clean and paint or powder coat what colours best for a green fabia and paint or powdercoat?

Nice what size are they?

I think a nice gun metal grey or gloss black would look sweet on green

their 14x7 for the front and 14x8 for the rear tyres are streched atm though not a 100% fan of that whats the best paint to use?

anyone any idea on the locations and sizes of the speaker in my fab?

Depending on the spec I think there will be either six or eight.

Front tweeter located in the pillar next to the wing mirror (where the manual adjustment would be for a mirror), one in the front door panel (obvious 'grill'), one in the rear door panel, roughly the same place as the front door. If there are eight then the last will be on either side of the parcel shelf.

Don't be buying anything until you have exact measurements, the main problem is the depths of the speakers and trying to squeeze them into such a limited amount of space that you have in the door of the Fabia.

6" for the fronts spring to mind but I am not certain. Do a search and you will find lots of information on the subject yourself as it has been covered many times before.

Don't forget to instal some sound deadening whilst you're undergoing the hassle of putting new speakers in, it will vastly improve the sound quality of the speakers.
