Where to remap?

Featured Replies

Any decent tuners in Central Scotland? Oakley (Revo) in Fife perhaps??? 2010 170 CR FL.

Another vote for Shark Performance. Ben has transformed my VRS.

Hi guys,

Anyone know of a good performance specialist/tuning garage in the Hampshire area? Got an Octavia II 2.0 TFSI VRs and am looking at trusted and reliable places for performance parts and tuning? I have heard a lot about Shark Performance but the nearest place is Wokingham.

Any other recommendations?

Cheers

JKM in Portsmouth, if that's not too far? They always service my CR VRS (they used to do my Leon Cupra R too) and they Revo remapped it for me yesterday too.

Always awesome service, always great advice and they're well known and respected in VAG circles in this part of the world.

They're actually a 45 min drive for me but it's well worth it :)

Oh and as for the Revo remap itself, it's superb. Just as smooth and progressive as stock, but a lot stronger, carries on further through the rev range and makes the car pick up speed utterly effortlessly in any gear. It feels the way it should have done from the factory.

+1 for JKM performance!

They used to be site sponsors on here but dunno why they have gone?

Awesome, they aren't too far from me (about 20 mins) so will definitely check them out. As for the remap, i was initially playing with the idea of purchasing a used car warranty as i have just bought the car and cant afford big payouts on replacement parts however, haven never driven a Skoda Octavia before and seeing the reliability on these cars is very good i think ill go ahead with the remap instead.  Fingers crossed nothing major goes wrong with it in the near future. Looking forward to the extra power across the whole gear range, read a lot of good things about the remaps.

I've got the Skoda extended warranty, I figure the remap (+ any other mods) will only cause warranty problems if it can be proven to have caused the problem I'm claiming for. I had my aircon condenser replaced last year for instance, that alone was the cost of the warranty so it worked out cost neutral... no way a remap can be blamed for that :)

That said, if you're worried, Revo offer their SPS device which can be used to temporarily revert back to the stock map. For a petrol engine you also have options to tweak fuelling too. Might be worth reading up on as if you do have an engine warranty claim you could switch back to stock and deny all knowledge ;)
