Ah when VW really made a car!

My Dad got a Y plate Golf GT TDI 110 as a company car back then and I always remember how special it felt at the time.

He ordered a PD 115 but Hertz supplied the wrong car...he took the 110 as it was otherwise going to be another load of months waiting and continuing to drive his ageing 2.0 Mondeo!

Built like a bank vault, amazing stereo and went really well for a 110hp car.

But the PD's were a massive improvement...wife had an Ibiza 130 PD Sport when we first got together and Mk4 150 1.8T's had trouble keeping up with it on the Motorway! We later had a Mk5 Golf GT Sport 140 PD as a loaner for several months whilst few week old Polo got rebuilt having been stoved in and I have to say thinking back whilst it blatantly wasnt it felt as quick low to mid range as my Mk7 GTD!

Brother in law had a Bora V5 not so long back (the 150 not 170 version) and it was a great car...not particularly rapid but sounded gorgeous!
