Is this the dreaded CCM?

Featured Replies

I've been researching a problem on my partners 2006 VRS whereby the drivers door seems completely dead i.e. none of the window switches work, the electric mirrors don't work either. But, the passengers window work OK (on the passenger door switch only). What's more confusing is that I can hear the solenoid working when I press the remote but none of the doors actually unlock (but the petrol flap lock works OK).

I've read through the following post and checked the red 10mm ccm fuse and it's OK ... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/147150-drivers-door-central-locking-issues/

Before I start stripping the door and/or removing the CCM unit, can anyone shed any light on which of these two it is most likely to be or suggest anything else I can check?

I've read reports of the ccm getting wet under the passenger carpet but the ccm on these cars seems to be under the dash?

Thanks

Could be the live feed to the driver door controller. Try the rubber grommet in the door and look for a snapped or corroded wire... I say this as the driver door feeds the others and they all seem to work?

As above, a well documented issue on the Octavia.

The wires get brittle over time and break. Pop off the rubber grommet near the drivers door hinge and inspect each wire for damage.

Thanks for the replies. I checked the cabling harness between the door and body just now and it all looks ok. I then checked the main red/white 12v feed to the door and it was at 12 volts.

One thing I did establish is that the passenger side doors still unlock with the remote, but I need to use the key to unlock the drivers door and there's no power windows on the drivers door or wing mirrors.

Bit baffled by this now - is there something in the door that could stop all of the above working?

Not had any issues with my vRS - but I suspect that that it will be the same as other VAG models and will have a door control module - built in as part of the Window motor.

The modules are all listed individually in VCDS - so it might be worth a diagnostic scan.

Have you tried dropping the battery off for a few minutes to reset the CCM and door module ?

Certainly sounds door module related with the extra info about tbe windows and mirror. A scan would be a good idea.

Quick update. It was the drivers door module. After sourcing one on fleabay and fitting it, all the above issues were fixed, phew!
