There goes the fuel injector line

I'll try:

Dealer is trying to to do their best, to fix your car. You are using a car "for free", while they try to fix your car. Why they should pay the petrol you use? Charity is not a business.

I'm just trying to say it's not dealers fault that injector was faulty. Then again, what do I know.

I may be dumb, but I would be happy if issues appears when warranty is valid. When there is no warranty, issues are more expensive.

I get what you mean, frustration has made me a little hot headed and I've had trouble with them in the past, it's all boiling up I guess, it just bothers me that £35 of my money has gone to their car, they've used my fuel on my car (30 miles the last time) and I didn't see an ounce of that back (when they had it last they had no need to drive it, I explained it was a problem with "cold start ups" not blasting down a duel carriageway/highway)

Sadly that all sounds like bull**** to me. You should've gone to the other even if it is along way.

I haven't had my Rapid for 54 days now as its still at the dealers. Doesn't matter as I've rejected it [emoji16][emoji106]

Your car should've been sorted in 3 days max.

What a load of tosh, just spoke with the garage, they say "we had to order a special tool" I say "yes a fuel injector tester" to which they say "well I don't know but we've had to order 2 tools now, the other is on back order and may take 4 weeks to arrive" the good news in all of this is that my car is drivable so will be collecting it tomorrow, they say driving it won't cause any further damage

4 week back order?

so either

  • sudden rush for the "special tool"
  • something never expected to be needed,
  • lets fob customer off with an excuse

I will let you decide

Can I choose all 3? I'm seriously considering phoning meadens and asking them to take a look, I couldn't give a flying **** I if I pee Westover off, they should've done it quicker if they wanted to keep me as a customer

That's all bo***** [emoji19]

Go straight to Meadens it'll be done really quick [emoji106]

What's everyone's input on this Email I'll be sending to another Skoda dealer not far away?

Evening,

My car (insert car details here) is at this current state at Westover and it has been since the 24th February, I took the car in as it had an issue with the engine (unsmooth revving on cold start ups between 1-2.5k revs, the best way to describe it is it's almost like it was "missing a cylinder" when you revved the car whilst in neutral from cold), after some testing, I had a phone call on Thursday 26th and the phone conversation went a little something like "Hello, we've likely found the problem with your car and it might be the fuel injector has gone, we need to order a "special tool" (those were there actual words, I might be wrong but I'm presuming the "special tool" is simply a "fuel injector tester" but of course not expecting me to be somewhat familiar with the mechanics of a car they said it's a "special tool"), this tool as far as I know arrived around Wednesday 4th (so they say, but I'm not sure if I believe them) and I had a phone call which went somewhat like "Hello, we've received the "special tool" to test the car, it looks like testing it might take at least 7 hours, so are you all right to stay in the courtesy car?" I of course had to just let them get on with it, so I phoned today giving them a couple of days to sort out the car, when I phoned, someone who hasn't been dealing with me and the car picked up so there's a understanding there that she wouldn't be up to speed with myself or the issue of my car, so once I said who I was etc, I was on hold for a few minutes and when she did get back to me the conversation, again went a little something like "Hi sorry to keep you, we had to order this special tool" I then cut in and said "is this special tool not a fuel injector tester?" The response I got was "I'm not sure (seems promising!) however we've now had to order another "tool", this tool is on back order, so it might be up to 4 weeks before it arrives, we have done some repairs on your car (I was never told what these repairs where) but if you'd like to you can pick the car up until this "tool" has arrived?" So now we're up to speed on things, I'll be of course collecting the car tomorrow (lord only knows what state it will be in, last time they had it for just 2 days and they managed to splatter it in road salt despite the engine issue being on cold start ups) so my question is, would it be worthwhile having your guys taking a look? Because I understand that Westover are "doing there best" to get the car sorted, I'm no mechanic but surely a garage part of a chain as large as Westover would have all the tools necessary, to fix any problem should it arise? But if this tool does arrive in 4 weeks, that's well over a month, I hope you can understand that I'm not impatient but I just want the car fixed and I know if it goes back to Westover it'll be another week or 2 before anything is replaced or repaired

Keep it short

I lost the will after the first 5 lines :S

Book it in say it's under warranty and let them decide what wrong with it.

Or, tell them what's wrong with it and let them come up with a plan of action. If they decide it's the same problem and special tools required, then you have a problem, who do I go with. They also may make you pay for either ones time (labour)

I think I'll just phone them :D

I think just as you say a phone call will do the trick. You're one of many that have gone to them after Westover [emoji57]

They tell me many stories [emoji6]

UPDATE

So, all 3 injectors are fine, this new tool is apparently to check the fuel injector lines going into the fuel injectors for any blockage

They didn't say really but I assume so

Injectors injects fuel, which is delivered by fuel line. I don't see how there could be blockages in fuel line through. It should give fault code if engine does not get enough fuel.

I wasn't sure if it would be the fuel line but thought it might of been, these things can get blocked, but of course they need a tool to check this

If it was fuel flow issue it would cause problems at high rpm, not low rpm.

injector problems are normally spray pattern / atomisation, easy to see if you can put the injector on a test jig

and run fuel through it at running pressures

how they used to do with older diesel injectors

Same with petrol injectors too. They don't half talk some cr*p at that place[emoji57]

And they're working on your car [emoji15][emoji15]

It back with me, I did speak to Sway, they haven't got a courtesy car available until the 21st, imagine the conversation with Westover when I tell them it's being sorted by another dealer :D
