EGR deletion and short shifter options

Featured Replies

Posting again as ended up on the general forum, not sure I like Tapatalk. :notme:

I thought a post on her maybe better than under skoda octavia mk2 6.

I have got FL 140ps octavia scout 2010 2.0l you Can engine and had fault code P04030 yesterday.

Anyway I certainly don't want EGR woes again that I had with my passat 1.9 TDI and was looking at the EGR deletion kits, but have a few questions that couldn't seem to find the answers for on the posts that exist.

So I have a few questions for the forum:-

1.. In 2015 and with the MOT updates, is it still wise to delete the EGR valve ? Will it pass MOT?
2. Reading the posts 2013/ 2014 is seemed the EGR removal didn't affect the emissions much for MOT, but does the EGR removal cause issues with DPF in the long term ?
3. or does the DPF filter have to be removed , if the EGR has been removed ??

I know they possibly they look for the DPF in the MOT and people leave the basic DPF canister in situ , but does that mean the DPF is destroyed during this type of removal and a new one one need to be put i if ever caught out ???

Also I have been looking at short shifter posts and wondered if there is a forge or other supplier with a unit to fit the 6spd 2010 gearbox on my MkII scout , as it may assist with the gear change issues that I still feel are there :-( I am going to follow the VW shifter reset video first , but thought it maybe a good option for me also even though it aint a VRS. However all the ones online I have looked at seem to cover Mk1 up to 2006 , and I could not find a specific unit for the mkII ? I did read somewhere in a post, a guy with a VRS 2012 model fitted one , but he  had to grind it to make it fit, which isnt what I wanted to do.

Any guidance on the above appreciated.

I am researching this myself because I got EGR valve fault diagnosed on my Octavia 2.0 TDI. The option of remapping the EGR makes more sense that fit a new one and hope that it won't fail (or get clogged up) again. I have been told that NOx gasses that you will get are still not measured, so disabling EGR should be ok re passing MOT.

no. 2  - I have same question like you. After some research again, it seems to me that DPF removal is more common that EGR removal/diabling (just google it). Often the offers are DPF removal with necessary remapping of ECU and additionally you can have EGR on OFF (including remapping). Good question if with DPF removed the car would pass MOT (online claims that they do this so often doesn't really do it for me).

Re DPF removal, taken from a website that offers it: The DPF hardware can be removed by emptying the contents of the DPF box or fitting a replacement pipe. Once done we can re-program the ECU on the bench to remove the DPF functions.

I think I will have the whole thing done :notme:  with the option of emptying the DPF box.

Ok, more research done.

1) it will pass. It is DPF that is 'illegal' to remove.

2) with ERG mapped out/removed the DPF is unaffected

so 3) no leave DPF as it is.

Anyway, I think you got your EGR replaced because you replied to my thread recently.

Looking at this too,  as having issues with 2011 1.6 CR TDi which apparently is a real pain to clean /replace due to location of the EGR.

SO thinking just to blank it off which can I think be done relatively easily within the engine compartment?

- it will probably pull the warning light on from what I read but this can be mapped out.

The way people remove the DPF is to leave the casing there but put a straight pipe through it as the MOT is currently only a visual check to see if its there.
- this may change though, and as I live in a rural area I have not had any significant DPF problems (yet)
- I'd be in favour of disabling the EGR and leaving the DPF for time being, so am pleased to find the comment above that the DPF will be unaffected.

Seen this kit on ebay which includes the plate and device to stop the electronics looking for the EGR? - any comments?
