Don't suppose you've got a part number for the pipe and the trumpet? Fancy doing this to mine.

Been a long time, haven't really done anything but today I ordered a Darkside Developments Intercooler :)

Should be here in the week either fitted this weekend coming or sometime this month.

Sweet !:)

Sweet !:)

Gone down the route with standard pipes so if it doesn't fit it's going back as I have the email saying it should. What needs cutting I know you mentioned it.

I modified the bottom of the radiator as it sits in the original intercooler , drilled out the holes on darkside cooler and moved the brackets abit to line it up to the pegs on the rad.I cut out the plastic tray to fit the darkside cooler into the tray and two holes in the bottom of the tray for two bolts.

Had a small play with the torque obd app today.

0-60 was fun first gear was useless. Just wanted to get some times done before the Intercooler was fitted on Saturday. Need some dry weather. All in all not bad for a 1.6tdi

The 40-60 was 3rd gear

The 60-80 was 4th gear

New Intercooler fitted :)

Direct fit?

Which cooler was it?

  • Author

Nope not direct a lot of cutting and swearing to get it fitted. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't fancy a challenge.

Darkside developments cooler, now it's on it's brilliant. At least twice the size of standard and does definitely pull better in all gears. Sure it's boosting lower down too was 1500 ish before seems lower now.

Sounds good, not too badly priced either.

Did you take any fitting pics? Also does the bumper fit back on ok?

I didn't take any pictures sorry, kind of made a mistake too damaged the front panel and had to cut it off so if it goes back to standard has to be replaced. Yes bumper fits fine after it.

I tryed the torque app after I seen this.

I set mine up for my car it was saying my hp was only 88 and the torque was 215 way less than even standard.

I did a run with a maf reading and divided it by 0.8 got a reading on 154bhp but unsure how true that is .

  • Author

Sounds about right the torque app is rubbish for Hp figures. What did you do for the maf run ? It's definitely better since fitting the intercooler :) haven't had any decent plays yet but did hold onto a 325d coupe up to 110mph on a private road of course... :)!

I just booted it from a standstill really ,got the highest maf reading then divided it to get that number. I've never pushed my past 90 ish since it's had the map and cooler mine seems to die off and I've lately got a wheel wobble that comes in that speed which is a pain.checked everything think it's a shaft :(

  • Author

Ah il give that a go, I kerbed my wheel the other day in the cold. First time ever absolutely gutted had it redone though work thank god and it's hell of a repair :) ah hope shaft won't cost too much, I still need to get my tracking done.

As of today 142.5hp and 261.1ft lbs

Happy with the results from a Superchips remap.

Thanks mate, literally haven't done much to it for ages. HIDs are out as somehow won't fire up when cold so got some mtec bulbs in. Mainly been used as a family car :)

Starting in Skoda on Monday so can see it having a lot of warranty work in the near future :) how's the new turbo ?

Ah should see good figures then, ye mate had enough no progression, Skoda is closer as I'm in Llanelli now and offered more training.

Yes same reason I went for 5 doors also hated getting out in the rain to let people in.
